Description Nanuvik, God of Snow and Hunters

Nanuvik is the feared and respected patron god of the Frozen Territories. He often bears the title of Father of the North or Father of Hunters. Nanuvik was the one who taught our ancestors and the animals how to hunt in a respectful manner, setting the ecological system of prey and predator in motion. He taught the hunters to honor and respect the hunted in their death, give them what they wanted before their death. If the hunted wanted water, give it to them; if they were looking for food, feed them. Those who do not obey these rules will be punished severely, may it be by the laws of nature or Nanuvik himself. Every couple of years, the tribes would go to Nanuvik to be judged. He would judge if they are worthy to hunt larger animals or not, and punish those that went against his rule. He is the ancestor of the bugbears and taught them the ways of the hunt, which is why they are such adaptive and great hunters. The people of the Frozen Territories based their clothing of off Nanuvik’s wings. Many winter coats and parkas were made to be similar to his wings. They’ve also copied his hairstyle, which is why braids and hair loops are seen as of great importance and sacred. Nanuvik is often spotted in cold, barren tundras, gazing upon the wild ocean of his counterpart, the Goddess of Ice and the Hunted.
