A close friend of mine in the program trained a peregrine! ...a very loud, temperamental peregrine. Have you ever seen the hybrid falcons? We had one of those; she was gorgeous.

I myself prefer the red-tails. I think most people find them sort of "boring" after startup, but I think they're so pleasant and versatile.

No i completely agree. The peregrine is more to satisfy the curiosity of using a falcon outside of the Kestrel. For a mainstream bird I would prefer a red-tail simply because with hawks you dont need to rely on a dog as much. Of course I say that based on what was said to me by my instructor at the time. Falcons rely on having prey flushed for them. Hawks are a bit more active with their hunting

I will admit I don't know much about actual hunting.

The birds we worked with were mostly rehab birds with injuries that prevented them from flying. I worked chiefly with the male red-tail, and he could only fly about fifty yards or so before landing. Bad wing; broke it in around seven places as a juvie.

The ones that could fly we trained mainly to the glove. Not enough time and too many students coming and going to do any real hunting.

I do have a friend who's doing an internship in Qatar right now. They're nuts about falconry over there, and she's seen some amazing birds.

incredible! The one we were working with was abandoned and didnt know how to hunt. He was a mere hours from dropping dead from hunger when my instructor found him

*snorts with giggles* No, role play as in playing the roles of a character to act out a story. For example I get a lot of my "Broken Spirit" ideas from Fluttersyh and Discord role plays. It's essentially two people writing a story together.

Ya, I've trained... lesse. Two redtailed hawks, a little kestrel, and a Eurasian eagle owl. University program. Only kept each bird for about a semester. Fun times .

Redtails were Rocky and Eleanor. Kestrel was Tiny Tim. Owl was Bubo .

In retrospect, I think I did do this once. A long time ago, in high school with a friend. We'd pass off our replies to one another between classes.
