Description
This was a painful one to upload, because I absolutely love this design. The Burning Ape was intended to be the "final boss" of Act 1 and it would have been a formidable one at that. With the ability to breathe fire as well as emitting flesh-broiling heat from it's body, The Burning Ape would have been the "King Kong" archetype, except he isn't interested in abducting blonde women: He's all about crushing skulls and tearing off limbs. I don't think I ever locked down an origin for this guy, but I do remember floating around the idea of it being a laboratory experiment on a chimpanzee gone horribly wrong, giving rise to what would have been one of the most powerful monsters in the series. All is not lost however, as the spiritual successor to this design is going to play a big role in War of the Monsters
