Description I typically don't listen to a whole lot of Christian music despite the fact that it's my religion, but I've been listening to a CD of songs that were inspired by the Chronicles of Narnia, and I really like this song by the Jars of Clay. Anywho, this took me some time, and I almost lost this peice too due to ps being a bitch. It wouldn't let me save so I had to take seperate screenshots, put them into paint, save them, and then re-open the peices in ps and have to fit the peices of it back in like a puzzle. Scarry moment there, if I lost the file I probably would have done something terrible lol. Tried to use my tablet to improve on this, and I think the outcome is pretty nice. I'll release a print soon, and if you didn't check my latest journal, I'm selling my prints for minimum price. I'm not out for making money, I really just want to sell, period. Hope you like.

I'd love just a massive focus of that nebula and planet. It'd be an awesome piece.

Scenes aren't always about a focal point, I like to think of them more as a balanced composition.

Nice smooth textures, dramatic colours.

LOL, I was just reading through the comments of other deviants, and they thought it was a photo. That's a pretty good compliment.

Yeah, Jars of Clay are one of the very few Christian bands that I like.

The wispy nebula is pretty good, and the center of the other nebula is good too, but I'm not sure about the more defined parts on the middle nebula. For the clouds, you probably should've used a photograph because Terragen's clouds kind of suck, lol. I like the sunbeams and trees, the water's alright but it could've been better. Not bad.

Genesis-Orbit In reply to nvlr [2006-07-24 06:01:55 +0000 UTC]

Yea you're right, clouds do seem sot suck in terragen lol. I'll try using some of my own photos next time

not at bad attempt keith, however it could be better.

1) The overall image does not share a common quality. By that, I mean the top is soft and blurred almost, but the bottom is sharp and pointy. I think i notice that amongst all, if not, the majority of terrain/spacescape pieces. I never understood why these artists never fix up the terragan render. (not saying you didn't) Well I guess I'm just tryign to say that the overall image should share the same quality.

2) The size is also uneasy for the eyes. I know you probably think u want others to see the details of this piece, but u also gotta think for the overall audience. I'm on a 1280x1024 monitor and this thing still requires me to side scroll a bit to see the entire width. I think terrain pieces, well majority of pieces, are best viewed when they fit on screen, regardless, the best deal you can do is make a scraps deviation with details. It's much easier for one to notice mistakes and not think of the overall image when the image is presented this way and not zoomed out.

Keep at it man.

Genesis-Orbit In reply to thefifthorder [2006-07-24 05:00:18 +0000 UTC]

Ok, I'll keep that in mind for my next one. And you're right, i really wanted the audience to see the details but I like your suggestion with the scraps. I'll do that now, thanks

not bad man, the space section could be a lot better, but I like the dusty clouds. The bottom section looks a lot better, but one thing you could do is darken the part of the sun that's behind the cloud or else it looks like it's infront of it. I can't offer too much critique here, just seems a bit empty
