Fan art has hardly gotten that right ever, in my experience.
Though speaking of the "headband," that's the one part of her design I've never understood. It really does look like she's wearing a head band, even in the old official character illustrations, but her whole thing is clearly not wearing any clothing. She's covered in nothing but her own skin, hair, and fur. And it makes sense since she starts the fight as a normal looking cat and then transforms into humanoid mode. So what's the deal with the headband? Is it supposed to be a part of her? Her one piece of magical clothing? That's never made sense.

It's the only piece of clothing she has.Β It also *somewhat* explains herstyle, as it squeezes both the base of her neck and the front to give the whole lion mane look.Β They should've made it more obvious that it was clothing, that I can agree, but still, you have the concept art in plain sight that shows one how to draw it.

But if it's a headband, where is it when she's in little kitty mode? Besides that, in the crazy world of anime hair and the extra crazy world of Darkstalkers, a headband is by no means necessary to justify her overall hairstyle. I mean, the same game has a zombie that make his arm into a functional chainsaw at will. Felicia's hair just naturally flowing like that would be nothing in comparison. Personally, dropping the head band entirely is the one aspect of her design I'd change if it were my call. It's conceptually unnecessary, easily confusing, doesn't add to the readability of her form or coolness factor, and no headband would mean no more fan art drawing her ears coming out of it like a lazy cat costume or something.
