** This is Doctor René Harper, Interviewing the alien life form sighted on Pandora, classified as 'The Hunter'. So, 'Hunter', why exactly are you here on Pandora? **
** I was simply put into a pod and blasted down to a planet. None of the Hunters know which planet they are chosen to be sent to. **
** So, you were 'blasted down'. From what? A ship, another planet, what?**
** Your first guess was correct. We are loaded onto a ship and sent off to a galaxy. Every time we find a planet the pilots would blast one of us down.**
***
***
******
** And who decides which planet it is? **
** Our Clan's First. You would call him your General, or Admiral.**
**First? as in the first, best Hunter, Worker? **
** No. the First is what we call him, because he, out of the old generations of the Clan, was the only one that both lived to that age and proved himself worthy. .**
**Worthy of what? of being the clan's leader? **
** He undergoes his final rite of passage, where he has to face a... you humans would call them 'Great Prey', and he must deactivate all his electric weapons, that is to say, everything except this blade, and faced the Great Prey. **
***
***
******
** Rites of passage? as in first kill, first shot, a special ritual? **
** No. In total, there are 14 rites of passage, the first being to select what you are going to be, and the last one, the fourteenth one, shall be to determine whether you shall be the next First. **
** And if you fail any of these rituals? **
** Any of the others, you can simply take them again until you die or succeed. But on the last one, the fourteenth one, you may only take that once, or your clan will dishonor you and you shall become clanless. **
** There must be a lot of Clanless Hunters.**
** Thankfully, there is not much difference to us between Clanlessness and Suicide. **
***
***
******
** And overall, what do you think of everything on Pandora in general? **
** I am relieved that the Na'vi are refusing technology and civilasation. If they did, ... I beleive there was a place on earth much like it... oh yes. It would be like the situation in 'South Africa'. There are two factions fighting for dominance.**
** And what do you think of this? **
** These two factions are viruses, cancers, tumors to be removed. They will some day gear up for open war. There wil be no mercy. **
** Okay. One last question before we wrap it up for the day. How do you find Pandora? Is it fine, slightly too bad, what? **
** I think that Pandora is very balanced. The game is not too difficult to hunt, but difficult enough to keep me focused. **
***

** This is Doctor Grace Augustine, resuming interview with the alien life form classified as 'Hunter'. I shall be doing this because Doctor René Harper is unavailable for this, due to him being absent on a mission concerning the local ingidenous beings known as Na'vi. On the last interview, you stated that you were releived that the Na'vi were refusing technology. Can you clarify your thoughts on this? **
** If they had technology similar to the Humans, they would start all out war. This would be painful for both sides. Also, there would be those among the Na'vi that would realise that if they allied with the Humans, they would gain a large upper hand. of course, they would be opposed by The Traditionalists among the Na'vi. there would be much bloodshed. **
** You have already answered the question of how right the RDA are in this matter. Can you clarify on how right are the Na'vi on Pandora? **
** They, the Na'vi, are simply defending their home planet, and they have every right to do so. Their culture... all i can say is that no way, belief or culture is more fitting than the next. In the field of Hunting, I happen to have some knowledge on this matter. For the animals, they are correct, in most cases. But if they are killing other beings, or humans, ... heh.**
** What have you to say on this matter? *
** Killing is an act, an action that you commit against your enemies. All the leaders think that there is a 'humane' way of doing it, a 'proper' way of killing. It's absurd. If you want to become an effective killer, you must use fear. Fear is a weapon, a tool that you can again and again fire at the enemy. To gain the fear of your enemy, you must re-write what they see a being can do. Wound your enemy. Shoot the wounded. Burn them. Cut Them. Show the enemy what a being can do to another. And then show him that you revel in it. In short, to gain the fear of your enemy, you must become your enemy's personal monster. **
** Is this a way that can be exploited? **
** Quite easily. But the Fear will try to strike at you too. You must remember that Killing , as well as an act, is a display, like a lion roaring or a gorilla beating its chest. At no point must you falter, you must not succumb to the horror of it all. Because if that happens, your enemies will have a weapon they can use against you. Its name is Guilt. **
***
***
******
** Ok. What are your ideas on what we should do to stabilise relations with the Na'vi?**
** Leave. You Humans are wrong being here on two counts: one being you are not supposed to be here, and you didn't clear your arrival with Chimera, who happens to be the Protector of this world. **
** Okay, one last question before we should get this thing over with. How do you find the RDA in General? **
** I know all about them. As it happens, our races have met before. Thousands of years ago, my ancestors found a backwater planet called Earth. We taught the humans living on it to build, and we were worshipped as gods. After that, i can't remember. I didn't pay attention in Our educational years.
***
***
******
** I am Doctor René Harper, back from my mission among the Na'vi, and ready to resume interviews with the being classified as "Hunter'. The First and foremost question I feel that I have to ask you is that why did you attack us, they first day we met? **
** The day where you interfered with my kill and I stabbed you? **
** Yes. **
** That is a relatively simple issue. You interfered with my kill. What you must understand is that among our race's Hunters, our kill is a sacred object. Similar to your ...er... 'Acts of God' as they , I think, are called. **
** Are there many things sacred in your race? **
** For the Hunters, our kill is sacred. For the Workers, the Intelligents, the Parents, the Food-gatherers, I do not know. I am only a Hunter. But for all of my race, our clan's First is the utmost divinity. Only Hunters may be First, for it is only them that can undergo the final rite of passage. **
***
***
******
** It seems that there must be a lot of contenders to be the First. **
** No. Not many Hunters both live to that age and pass the final rite. If I were to choose a Great Prey from the beasts on Pandora, I would choose either a Toruk or a Thanator. Both of these would put up a hell of a fight. **
** Do you wish to become your clan's First? **
** As I said earlier, all Hunters wish to be their Clan's First. But there would be a lot of responsibility along with that, so i am always having second, and quite often third, thoughts. **
***
***
******
** Okay, one last question before this thing finishes. the day we first met, Why did you stab me and almost kill Chimera? Did you even know who she was?
** I saw the two of you. I had only just landed on this planet. But importantly, I saw an Unfixed being, the first i have seen for decades. that is why I only knocked her out. If you were two ordinary interfering Na'vi, you would have your heads removed. As for stabbing you, what does that have to do with anything? You shot at me! Besides, I did not hit any major organs. However, I switched my sight to X-ray and saw a strange sickness on your heart and lungs. Would you care to enlighten me on that? **
** I don't understand. I feel fine, I am fine. **
** Have a look for yourself. **
** My God! What is that??? **
** This is an image taken of your chest area, right now. TheWhite are your bones, blue lines are major organs. The Red is what I am referring to. Among us, it is a sickness. The weaker ones of my kind did not even last a day. The strong, months. But it kills us in the end. However, analysis of your blood indicated that- **
** Wait. You took my blood? **
** I impaled you in the stomach. Of course i got a bit of your blood. **
**Oh, i see. **
** Now this is a particle of your blood, observed with a Skah'voratuil, or you might call it an... electron... microscope? Anyway, As you can see, it is laden with that same sickness. But i think two things: either it is not a sickness, just the blood of the Unfixed, and it erodes my race's bodies, or that you both have the sickness. I think the first is more likely. **
***
***
******
** What are you so concerned about? I'm just asking you to tell the truth! **
** There is no room for the truth on that machine. **
** Very Well. **
**
**
** Okay, better get this over with. This is Doctor René Harper, along with a close friend of mine, Chimera, interviewing the alien life form classified as 'Hunter'. **
** First things first. Why are you here? **
** I believe that I have already answered this question to some extent. I am here to Hunt and train. *<.HUNT>*
***
***
******
** How did you know I was a Sh... an Unfixed? **
** This can tell. I analysed your DNA, and the DNA of the Na'vi. They did not match. My suspicions were furthened when you morphed into a dragon and flew off. **
** Do you know any others of my race? **
** No. Of all my lifetime and these past short 5 or 7 years, you are the only one I have seen. **
** Where do you come from? **
** My race's home planet was once peaceful and divided. But a particularly nasty civil war led to mass rearming, and long story short, our planet was blown up. So now our clan lives in Deep Space and roams around this galaxy. **
** Did you know of my race's war? **
** I suppose it took part same time we had our mass rearming. The Shape Shifters, oh yes we know what you are, we just prefer to call you Unfixed. shorter and easier to say. The Shape Shifters kept asking for our help more often. **
***
***
******
** Then as I remember the Farseer telling, the Shape shifters simply lost contact with us. My race have not seen them since.  **
** I'm sorry, the what?  **
** Ah, I should explain. Both your races haven't evolved it yet. Every now and then, a freak of genetic code grows a new part of my race's brain, which allows them to see images. These images show events in the universe, what has happened, what will happen, what is happening, and what could happen. This is how we tracked you humans here. **
***
***
******
** So this...far seer... can see into the future? **
** And the present, and the past, and into alternate realities. Yes. **
** And you followed us here with that? **
** One of you. I believe he was killed on his first day here. **
** Are your clan still in this galaxy? **
** Yes. We have taken up defensive orbit, and we jam any spacecraft that enter the area, then open fire on it. **
** Have any othe ralien races tried to enroach this planet? **
** Again, yes. The Grebulons have made thousands of aggresive moves. My clan have destroyed each one. And their technology? I've heard of low-tech, but they aren't so much flight controls as bathroom valves! **
***
***
******
** So how many races, in total, in this galaxy, are in a position to move against this planet?**
** Communications between me and my clan have been sketchy, but as far as I can tell, there's not much left of the old crowd. This galaxy used to be the biggest trade route in the universe, but the wars have destroyed any races that weren't sufficiently armed to survive... like mine. The Earth is reserved as an exclusion zone, so you guys survived it. **
** Exclusion zone? why are we excluded? **
** Oh, for some reason or another. You know, you are lucky! there is this one race whose planet, moon and sun have been enveloped in a thick, black mist, and so has made the extremely xenophobic, so they shoot anyone who enters their space. **
***
***
******
** Last time we met, you mentioned that your race was afflicted by something called 'Red Thirst', and 'Black Rage'. Can you elaborate on this? **
** Both are diseases, but Red thirst is not so bad. That is simply a craving, a desire to drink our opponent's blood. Black rage... heh... that is a massive upheaval in the brain. My kind simply feel it as a wish to die quickly. But it changes our bodies so that we are near invincible. I had a bout of it once... did things i would have been terrified and suicidal to do earlier. **
***
***
******
** I keep seeing you fighting with your bare hands. How can you be strong enough to rip a human apart with your bare hands? **
** I gained my strength through the Hunters Initiation. After we decide to be a Hunter, we have to train and train until we are at our peak physical capacity. Then we have to cross a huge canyon with only a small and badly made hang glider. We then have to stay awake for a full three days. Any that fall asleep in that time are taken away and never seen again. But if we do stay awake the three days, the Hunters Superior...that the sort of Hunter Administration, give us a drink that puts us to sleep. We then wake up in massive sarcophagi with all our old friends and family much shorter and weaker and slower than us.

** Last time we met, with that incident with the fire water, you mentioned something about someone called the 'Master Hunter'. Would you care to clarify on that? **
** The Master Hunter is a figure of legend. He is quite literally the Ultimate Hunter. That time where I tracked a sick Sturmbeast for 50 miles, he would've done that over lunch. The system in our race goes- Youngblood, Hunter, Great Hunter, First Hunter, and then the Master Hunter. the Youngbloods are the children, the Hunters-to-be. The Hunters, that is what I am now. The Great Hunters are in waiting to be the next First hunter, but are regarded with only slightly more esteem than the normal Hunters. The First hunter is the leader of their clan. The Master Hunter, legend has it, has the power to unite all of the clans and reform the Old Empire. But that's Ikranshit, everyone knows that. The Master hunter hasn't been seen for 2 millenia. He must surely be dead. **
** Do you think that this... Master Hunter... has the power to destroy the human prescense on Pandora? **
** Of course. All the clans are at his disposal. All the First are warned to accept the word of the Master, but he has not been seen or heard, or found, for about 2000 years. **
** Would he trespass on this planet? **
** I wonder why would he come down to this godforsaken hellhole. But even if we disapproved of his actions, there is little we could do to stop him. I am but a normal Hunter. Who am I to defy his will? **
***
***
******
** Do you think that the disappearance of this master Hunter may have had something to do with the war of Chimera's Race? **
** War? I heard of no war. But there are endless rumors about his disappearance, so anything's possible. But what war do you speak of? **
** There was one of my race, sanctioned to protect each planet with sentient life. But some got greedy, and they wanted more and more. So they began to fight. Now I'm the only one left. **
** That is a sick joke, you know that? **
** By the Master, you're not joking, are you? **
** Sadly, it's true. Chimera is the last. **
