Description

It was a quiet night out on the Atlantic Sea, with the only thing that one could hear was the howl of the wind and the rhythmical sound of the waves. To the fleet of three dragon-hunting ships tracking down their next target, it was the calmest night they’d ever seen. But this would soon change. The sound of splintering wood and shouting men woke the captain from his slumber. As fast as he could he got up and marched out of the captain’s quarters into the deck, filled with the sound of seabirds squawking and dragons shrieking.

“What’s happened!?” barked the captain as his assistant ran towards him.

“We’re being attacked!”

“By what?”

The skinny assistant pointed out towards the sea, past the sinking shipwreck of one of the ships,  and the captain extended his spyglass and searched for the cause of all this commotion. He searched for a few minutes confused as to what could cause so much destruction, until…

He saw it.

A grey horn began slicing through the waves, effortlessly making its way towards the other ship. The captain's eyes widened in shock as the titan reared its head, its emerald eyes focused on the ship with fury. They have just caught the attention of the serpent king, Jörmungandr. He watched in horror as the titan cut clean through the ship, ignoring its crew’s desperate attempt to repel it with cannon fire.

The captain was frozen in place, fear not permitting him to notice the serpent turn and direct its attention to their ship. By the time he snapped out of it, the beast had already started closing the distance.

“All hands on deck, man the oars and trim the sails, we have to get out of here now!” The captain barked but as soon as he turned to look out at the sea, it was too late. The Jörmungandr was already opening its mouth preparing to split the ship in half.

The captain has had his fair share of close encounters with death, he’s dodged the freezing breath of a White terror by half a metre, had an Altiyn fire upon him with its emerald spines and miss, and turned away before a Satiyn fired its blinding flame. He has killed hundreds of these beasts and now the greatest of them had come for revenge.

Accepting his fate, he drew his flintlock pistol and aimed for the dragon’s eye. But before he could pull the trigger, the titan bit down on the ship, splintering the mighty vessel in half and taking the captain with it.

After everything was said and done, the titan dived beneath the waves and emitted high-frequency calls until it received a response. A small, miniature jörmungandr swam up to its mother. The baby serpent nuzzled against its mother's snout, and they both exchanged a deep rumble before swimming off into the distance. Meanwhile, the remains of the hunter's fleet sank behind them.
