Description
I was searching through *jademacalla 's gallery for some stock for an upcoming gift piece (shh!), when I stumbled across this . I got an idea, started sketching, and 25 minutes later this came out. I kinda liked it, so I uploaded it here.Maybe once I have kids, I'll paint this on their bedroom walls and tell 'em that's what comes for them when they don't eat their veggies.
HB pencil on Strathmore 400 Drawing Paper. 25 minutes total.
*EDIT* I'm planning to re-do this one as an acrylic painting for my final project (open assignment) in my summer painting class.

You pulled off the pose nicely, that one doesn't look to easy. Also great job with the buildings.

I wouldn't be too sure... the gnoll has the element of surprise on his side.

I'm really liking this one. Looks like it has a story in itself going on.
Yeah, that painting idea for kids sounds like a good idea. I figure you could make a big fairytale around it just to spook them.
I'd probably go Orc on my kids, "YOU EAT VEGGIES NOW! WAAAAAAAAGH!"

I thought orcs were carnivores. There's just something weird about the sight of a big beefy orc munching on a ceasar salad.
Thanks, bro, glad you like it! I was almost thinking up a storyline when I saw the photo. Funny how one stock image can kick your creative process into overdrive like that.

That reminds me of the Futurama episode where they teach the lion to stop eating meat.
But yeah, it should be more like, "YOU EAT COW NOW! WAAAAAAAGH!"
I know what you mean about one stock image bringing out creativity. I always love it when that happens.

I didn't know Warcraft Orcs went "Waaagh!"... I thought that was for Warhammer 40k Orks.
This time it worked out; I've had times when that's happened, but I couldn't get my idea on paper.

Its used very rarely. I think I've only seen it once or twice and it seemed to be an easteregg.
Getting an idea on paper is probably one of the hardest things to do when you finally get one. Drives me nuts if I can't get it out... usually has to do with the image not being clear in my mind.

I really like the composition...the way he is leaning...it gives a good weight balance with the rest of the picture. And the perspective on the background is very good too.
Cool face expression by the way
And a mural in your kids bedroom of a bad guy coming to get them?

Thanks! I really like that expression too... I nailed it on the first try, which I'm very happy about cause usually facial expressions take me at least a half dozen attempts to get right.

Well, I think expressions are one of the most difficult things about drawing cause it defines the character... and they look good or they dont, there is no much in between....so congrats for nailing it

I wasn't really planning on carrying this further, but maybe once I get more comfortable with painting I'll give it a shot in Acrylics.
