Description
Prologue"Watch out for that one ahead" said Zoey and Francis fired. Plop, there exploded the fat thing in front of them and covered the walls with green bile. They went closer and Bill crouched to check out the goo. "I ain't seen anything like this before." "Jesus, don't let that stop from smearing it all over yourself, Billy." He cleaned his hand at Francis vest. "They're mutating, jackass." "Aw, ew.. that stinks." Louis and Zoey had to chuckle when they suddenly heard whining. "Some is still alive" said Zoey and made a step towards the door the sound came from. She and Bill went inside, while Louis and Francis guarded the door. Zoey switched on her flashlight and Bill opened the door. Ducked, they went slowly forward. "Hello? Anybody here? Don't fear, we..." whispered Zoey when the shine of her flashlight came closer to a person. A lightning enlightened the room for a brief moment and Bill saw the whining something, quickly pushed down Zoeys flashlight down: "Lights off! Get back, quick." "Dear god..." Louis outside heard a scream of a Horde. "Oh shit, shit, shit!" He ran inside to warn Bill and Zoey. "They're coming!" By accident, he shined his lamp on the zombie in the corner, who screamed. "RUN!" yelled Zoey to him and all three ran out, Zoey smashed the door and Louis lent against it. It crashed once and suddenly a claw broke through the door, causing Louis to open fire. "Stay together" said Francis and suddenly Bill next to him disappeared, what Francis instantly realised. "Hold on!" He shot the zombie, who was holding Bill with his tongue, caused the old man to fall down. "You're alright?" asked Zoey during a reload. "Zoey, keep shooting, these two can make it on their own" said Louis, who joined her meanwhile. It just got too much, so she took her pipe-bomb and threw it ahead. "Fire in the hole!" It made a few times pling when the pipe-bomb hit the ground and the Horde was history. Louis let out a sigh of relieve and all spotted a chopper over their heads. He chased it onto a street to signalize them, but it didn't work. "Dammit! There it flies away..." A scream behind him suddenly came closer and an almost entirely black thing pounced him and started to shred him apart. "I'm coming, Louis!" announced Zoey and rammed the thing away from him. When it was standing in front of her, she started to shoot with all she had. Louis also drew his pistol and shot as well, yet his few hits went through the infected and hit the car it laid down. An alarm went off. Bill, who came closer, saw the disaster while Francis helped Louis up. "Oh, that's gonna be bad." Bill was right, another Horde came in, but a loud growling behind it was a lot more worrying. Then suddenly a giant of the zombies appeared and mew down half of the horde with a car, the rest with its bear hands. Ready to fight all went slowly backwards. Louis asked what to do: "Run or shoot? Run or shoot?" "Both!" ordered Bill and the group ran into an alley behind them. In their front Louis spotted a ladder of a fire-escape. "Onto the roof!" Francis stopped, ready to shoot everything with his shotgun coming in. Louis and Zoey were already up. "You shall burn in hell forever" said Francis to the thing, that was coming to him and knocked him down right away. Bill canceled his climb and fired his M16, the giant was stunned and Francis could start climbing. The Wall was broken down and an almost two meter big piece of concrete was ripped out and thrown at Louis and Francis on the ladder, which got damaged. Bill was about to climb up again, there was a zombie in front of him – and its head popped. "Go! I'll hold them of!" yelled Zoey from upstairs and shot with her pistols at everything coming. Bill dropped his M16 as it just hindered him and got up. The Hulk-Wannabe climbed the ladder and caused Zoey to loose her balance and then one of her pistols. The entire ladder started to break down and Zoey ran toward the roof and jumped. "Francis!" she said and a strong arm grabbed her. Louis and Francis both pulled her up and she sighted once. "Man, that was cool" said Louis and looked to Bill, who ignited a new cigarette. "That was the fight... now comes the war..." he said and went slowly to the table up here and checked what they got left: Louis Uzi, Francis shotgun, one more of each was already here as well as four of both, pistols and medkits. Not much. "What the hell were those freaks?" wanted Zoey to know and went under the blue tarp, which was set up here, because it started to rain. "I said they're mutating." "Vampires don't mutate, Bill." Louis reloaded both Uzis they got left – his and the other one – and didn't even bother looking at Francis. "Francis, they're zombies." "Well, to be exactly, they aren't zombies, they're just infected. But... zombies still describes them best. At least the normal ones. Those other mutants we should give special names" suggested Zoey and set down on the table. "Best would be in the order we met them. First was that fat one." "Well, he attracts zombies. Attractor?" suggested Francis. Bill looked at him. "Sounds idiotic. Why not Boomer? After all, he let rise the amount of zombies nearby quickly, just like a boom." Zoey nodded. "Well, wouldn't have thought about that at first, but sounds good and is easy to remember and to say. Next was that witch-thing." Louis accepted it directly. "You just said it: Witch." "Wait a second, you yell at me when I talk about those vampires but calling them witches is just fine?" Louis moaned. "That's just a nickname, for easy remembering. Also, that stupid thing doesn't cast magic spells."
The Smoker got his name due the smoke kinda quickly and the Hunter was named by Zoey faster than they rest could imagine. "At last was that giant thing. Killer? Terminator? Super-Zombie?" Francis went through an entire list of suggestions. "Tank? Hulk? Or Avalanche?" "Stop, I think that fits!" yelled Zoey. Francis didn't know, what was picked. "What, Hulk or Avalanche?" "Tank. It is almost one for the zombies: Almost impossible to kill and can even cause damage from a distance." Bill clapped. "Well done, Francis. I'm impressed." Francis bow down.
"So, what we gonna do now?" asked Louis. The answer flew by spontaneously. "To anyone who can hear this, proceed to Mercy Hospital for Evacuation. Repeat, proceed to Mercy Hospital for Evacuation." It was a news-helicopter of channel 5. When it passed the roof of the apartment-building, it blew away the tarp. "Heeey! Now I gonna get wet" complained Zoey. Louis cocked both Uzis and handed over one to Zoey, Bill and Francis got the shotguns: "With the subway we get straight to the hospital." "Then let's got to the hospital" said Zoey and opened the door down the stairs. They were standing in a kitchen with some zombies, which Bill and Francis took care of. Both took the lead and reached another staircase. A floor below were the stairs blocked, forcing them to go into another apartment. Louis checked the bedroom and found a molotov and a bottle of pain-pills. The bottle changed his owner and after Bill thanked Louis, they moved on. "Bloarg." Quickly Zoey turned around and saw a Boomer she caused to explode. Just a handful of drops landed on her jeans. In the kitchen of the apartment was an entire wall broken away and Francis opened the door behind it with a kick. "Surprise!" A Hunter, who was standing behind that door, got knocked over and Francis pressed his foot onto its neck, aimed and blew away the Hunters head. "That's how I role." A bit further was a big hole in the floor. "Seems it goes on here, but I'm getting too old to jump around..." Bill sat down on the edge and slowly glided down. Zoey used a similar technic and got coughed by Bill, just Francis and Louis jumped straight down and the first one also found another bottle of pills in a closet. Suddenly the wall next to them got torn apart and a Smoker was standing there, which seemed to be as surprised as they were. All four opened fire. Pouff, the Smoker was gone. The group went outside. "I hate rain." "Shut up, Francis. We have to get to the subway" said Bill quietly and they followed the alley, behind them the destroyed ladder. Zoey got a cold shiver when she remembered the scene one hour ago...
In a smaller alley leading to the street they found pistols and then stepped out. "The station should be right around that corner. Come on." Louis ran ahead and shortly after, he spotted the station. Unfortunately the stairs caved in, but a storage-room for a random building got accessible due a van crashing into the wall. They went inside and locked the door. Bill looked outside through the exit-door. "Shit... subway looks full of zombies." Zoey took some ammo from the table and opened the door. The floor here was destroyed as well and one could go back into the subway-station. After the killed the zombies hanging around in the area, they went down the staircase. Bill looked at the ceiling with the signs. "With red line we get straight there." Zoey sighted. "Too bad the trains are all out, I don't like to walk." Below in the info-booths Zoey found another pipe-bomb and took it. Using the right escalators they came back up and found out that there was still a train. They walked over the rails and climbed past another, fallen train. Francis grinned: "Nice! Weapons!" In the middle of the tunnel next to another train-cart was a table with weapons. Bill bend over it to check out the offer: M16, M1014 and M14, which he gave out fitting for everyone. Zoey hold her nose closed. "That smells bad in here. Phew..." The tunnel split and the left way was blocked, but had to go right anyway. There was yet another train, which they could use as tunnel. A bit further ahead was a service-area and more blocked rails. "And where now?" asked Louis while looking around. He found a door and went through to some stairs. What they could see now, Zoey couldn't explain herself at all. "What the hell is that?" The entire room was empty – if you ignore the massive amount of pillars standing around. Overall, the room didn't made sense to her. Bill felt about the same, still he went through after Zoey cleaned up with her pipe-bomb. At the back was yet another staircase and that one led into a room with generators. At the other side was a gate, but it was locked. "To get through there, we need to turn on the power but that could cause some problems" thought Louis loud. "Why? Oh, I see, those things gonna make noise and... okay." Francis turned around. "Still no problem. See that baby over there?" With a big leap over a small barricade he placed himself behind a minigun. Louis and Bill went into the room behind it. "Ready?" asked Zoey and put her hand onto the switch. "Hit it, girl!" ordered Francis and started to warm up the minigun. It growled and a Horde came as expected. Without any trouble Francis mowed it down, making nobody watching the hole in the back. Something came out and suddenly Louis was gone. "Smoker! Down here!" he yelled and tried to free himself. Bill jumped down and kicked it away and freed Louis. He then shot the Smoker in the head. "Bastard..." Both went back up and saw, that Francis was full of Boomer-bile. Zoey tried her best to cover him, but only on her own, she couldn't do that much. "Are you two coming?" she said loud and Louis simply threw a pipe-bomb, causing the Horde to vanish. Because the coast was now clear, the group went through the gate and up a staircase into a security-room. "Here's some ammo" said Francis and went out through the next door.
They came on the the street and heard a growl. First they thought it was the chopper, which just passed by. But when they walked a bit further, a Tank ran towards them. A few cars flew into their direction and almost hit Francis. Still, the Tank itself was able to punch Louis into the direction they were heading. The Tank couldn't stand it for much longer and died. "We did it. Great!" said Zoey in joy. "Folks, safe-house right here!" informed Louis from a pawn-shop – he went a bit on. One stepped inside and Francis took care of Louis wounds. Latter opened the door and Zoey went out carefully, one pistol aiming down the alley to the left, one into a warehouse on her right. Bill slowly went through the alley and stepped through a door, leading into the kitchen of a Burger-Tank-Restaurant, filled with Zombies. Louis put in a fresh magazine and started to shoot: "Todays special are free copper-candies!"
When everything was empty, they went outside and saw the hospital. The outside was kinda clear and at the back was a gas station. Next to it was a lift, which led to a roof. "With that lift we can move on, guys" said Zoey and climbed inside. "Ready?" The guys nodded and Zoey pushed the button. It buzzed and squeaked loud. Louis looked scared upside. There came a horde. "Move on, go!" Bill shot several bursts down on another horde coming from there and near the end he climbed over a pipe into a warehouse. Louis as well, but when Zoey wanted to follow a Smoker-tongue cam from downside and pulled her down. "HELP! AH! HEL-MPF!" The tongue wrapped tighter and tighter around her, even gagged her and she got squeezed. "Hold on, Zoey, we're coming" yelled Francis and jumped through a hole in the floor, ran through a door and got surprised by a Boomer. "Ah, dammit..." First he wanted to stop, but Zoey needed help, causing him to run further, down some stairs and opening a gate. Now Zoey was right in front of him. He pulled his pistol and killed the Smoker, causing Zoey to drop down helpless on the ground. Still he couldn't do much for her, the horde was still coming. Upside Bill and Louis were too busy to even get down and killed a Hunter. "Take cover!" announced Louis suddenly and threw a pipe-bomb. It exploded and everything was quiet again. Francis crouched to Zoey and to untie her. "Stay cool, Zoey, we've got that..." She spitted. "Just get me out of this thing, I don't really like such kind of stuff. God, who thought, that zombies could be so... so... kinky." After she was untied, Francis healed her. "At least you enjoyed it." "Are you retarded? That was disgusting!" Both went back to the room with the hole, where Louis and Bill found some ammo. "Don't say a single word" hissed Zoey. "I just wanted to know if you're fine" answered Louis. After they took the ammo they needed, they entered the warehouse, whats roof they just ran over. In the back, they heard whining. "Lights off, Witch" whispered Bill and all turned off their flashlights. The Witch was sitting on a forklift near the end and everyone sneaked past her and nobody got noticed. After Francis closed the door, he wanted to know where they were going. "Through the water works right here. Seems to be the only way by now." "You're sure, Bill? I've got a feeling about not going that way, you know" meant Louis a bit halting. "Don't be a coward, Louis" said Francis and took the point.
Below they came into a room full of water-tanks, zombies and bad smell. Zoey sniped everything she could see and they went into another room to the right. "Through that manhole. Francis, you go first." Without complaining he jumped down and coughed Zoey, who followed him. Louis and Bill
came next and last one was a Boomer, who blew up but still just hit Francis. "Not again, Jesus!" A Horde came in running and Bill simply threw a molotov ahead. It made a short Pouf and a Smoker was grilled, too. Zoey looked down slightly disgusted and even stopped shit swimming in the water. Taking really care she climbed on the walkway next to the water, the guys didn't cared that much and jumped right into the goo. "God, the subways already smelled bad but this..." choked Zoey. Louis handed her a rag and she bound it around her face to cover it, making the smell A BIT less bad. "Thanks." A Horde announced itself, but never appeared, causing them to go into another room with weapons and ammunition. Zoey put down her M14 and took a M16 instead as she thought, she wouldn't be able to snipe down here anymore and a M16 would be better. Through a tunnel covered in mud, just high enough for Francis to stay in it, they went forward and reached a ladder. Louis looked up: "Here we get out right at the hospital." "Ladies first?" asked Zoey, gave Louis back the rag and unstrapped her pipe-bomb. "I don't like that, but fine. Get up there, kid" answered Bill. She climbed up the ladder and the surface was flooded with Zombies. The pipe-bomb flew and blew up about all zombies in the nearby area. "It's all clear up here, come... what the?" Another, indefinable sound was to hear. It came from the hospital, together with a small flash. "Dammit, what was that? That's going to attract a horde!" meant Francis mad and he was right. "Quick, into the emergency room!" yelled Francis all all together ran inside. Half-way through Zoey found yet another pipe-bomb in a Truck she took with her. Inside the emergency room, they found a saferoom. The group didn't wait, jumped inside and closed the door – just to realize that they were not alone this time. "Look there, someone is alive." Louis pointed at the person on a couch in a corner of the room. Zoey went closer and looked at the boy, who was about her own age and wore a green hoodie. "Hmm... he looks somehow cute. And he's still alive. Can we keep him?" "Only when he's housebroken and you take him for a walk daily" answered Francis laughing. Louis bend over him and decided to wake the unknown. "Hey, wake up."
