Description
Departure at gate "hell"Francis was upstairs and red one of the graffiti "Dear god, some of the survivors are more than paranoid. An anti-virus for the rich fuckers, a military experiment and – I gonna laugh my ass off, aliens?" "Who has no knowledge creates his own truth, Francis. And there, a theory can be very strange for one while the next thinks, it's realistic" answered Louis. Francis jumped down and opened the exit. Outside, we followed the alley left to a construction side. Nothing useful was hidden here, but at least below the crane we could take a molotov. Behind the construction side was another alley, but it was blocked by a wooden build. In front of it where some gas cans bound to a package. "Let's burn that barricade" suggested Zoey. Francis was not happy about that. "It figures the only thing in the damn city not on fire is the one thing we need burned down!" We got in position on a Gerüst on floor above right next to the barricade. I climbed into a window, aimed and waited for Bill's signal. "Okay, kid, burn that thing." Two seconds later, the whole thing was on fire and the generator right next to it blew up with a loud noise. Sparks and burning pieces of the cans flew through the air – and one piece landed on my arm. "OUCH! Hot!" That would leave an ugly souvenir. While I rubbed over my arm, I could hear a horde coming in. Bill heard them too. "They're coming" he said.
Luckily, the zombies weren't really smart and tried to reach us directly what forces them to fall down all the time instead to go the only way possible around. Still, we were not completely safer up here, a Hunter came almost up several times. And when a Smoker grabbed Louis and pulled him down, we lost control about almost everything. We were able to free him from the Smoker but now almost every zombie wanted to beat Louis to death. While I tried to shoot everything coming from the crane toward Louis, Bill took care of the gate-like hole on the right. After a while everything was quiet and Louis pointed at the barricade. "It's down, we should move" he said and went through. The four of us left up jumped down and followed him. "Shit, there are coming more of them" recognized Francis and threw the molotov from the crane behind us to cut of the way. "Go to hell!"
Through the alley we could reach the streets. On the other side was a kind of Umspannwerk. It seemed to be turned of or something similar, because it was absolutely quiet there if you ignored the singing of the infected. We walked between the generators. "I've got a bad feeling about that" said Bill as we passed the second area of generators. The growling of a Tank confirmed it. Because Zoey was the only one with a molotov, she and I sneaked forward. The Tank was inside the building, hidden behind some water-tanks. Zoey threw the molotov near the Tank and we ran back. A short moment later also the Tank began to ran, but it had no real target, more like pure pain. But when it spotted us, it ran toward us. It seemed it knew who turned it into a living torch. To conserve ammunition, we just kept running back. "Wah, shit!" I yelled when I lost balance and felt on the ground. Louis turned around and came back to help me but the Tank reached me already and began to crush me. The pain was impossible to describe, I had the feeling every single bone in my body gets broken. Every time, with every hit. "Shoot him already! Argh! NOW DIE, YOU BASTARD!" Slowly my view turned black when the pain suddenly disappeared. Felt dying like that?
I couldn't find out because Louis helped me up, but it was almost nothing left for me to die. "C'mon, I'll help you up." "Thank you, Louis. I feel a bit strange..." "That's going to be alright." When I stood again, I looked at the Tank. It was completely black and smelled like a grilled chicken you forgot on the grill. I kicked it what caused pain in my lower body and leg but it helped to get over my almost-death. Zoey came to me. "I know we gotta move, but I gotta heal you." It didn't need much time. "Aaah... Thank you, Zoey. You're a real angel." She kissed my forehead and we kept moving. The place where the Tank waited was only some ammo but nothing else. Through two doors we could return to the streets and were right in front of the airport – or to be more precisely, what was left of it. "What idiot bombed the airport?" yelled Francis. Over the Trümmer and broken parts of the crashed airplanes and vehicles. I shacked the doors. "Open, goddammit! We want to get in there!" "Don't waste your energy, Daniel. Also we can go in over there" said Bill and pointed at a sky bridge between the airport and a parking lot on the other side, two floor above us. We went into the parking lot. "Oh no, not short term parking" swore Zoey. Inside the parking lot were some infected. But when we wanted to walk up the ramp for the next floor, suddenly a Boomer came around the corner and vomited in our direction. I could dodge it and Francis was out of range anyway but for Zoey, Bill and Louis it was too late. Full of bile all three swore in rage and someone killed the Boomer while Francis and me tried to get rid of the incoming Horde. Then a Smoker grabbed Bill out of the darkness from the backside of the floor and pulled him away from us. Zoey followed him but she couldn't move forward because of the zombies beating on her. I threw a pipe-bomb and then ran to Bill. But because of the darkness, it was hard to see anything back there even with a flashlight. And when I finally found Bill, a Hunter jumped on me. I can't say what happened next, it took only a few seconds. Someone killed the Smoker and rescue Bill me from the Hunter. As I said, it took only a few seconds. At least, we were all still alive and nobody was seriously hurt. Bill needed to take some pills, still. But except that, he was fine and our group continued to move. Upstairs was the next surprise waiting for us: A Witch. "There's a Witch. Lights off, hurry" I whispered. The Witch was sitting in the middle of our path. We had to climb over a few cars, but Louis got a better idea. "Why we don't go back there?" He pointed at a dark areal, what went parallel to our. "Get slaughtered by a Witch or walk through pure darkness... great, just great" mend Zoey and sighted. "Guess, we have no choice." We went forward, made our steps carefully – you couldn't see anything in this black nothing. After a short while, someone grabbed my shoulder. "Are you scared, Zoey?" I asked. "What? I'm over here!" she answered. "But when you're over there, who..." I was prepared for everything when I shined with the flashlight behind me. Everything but that. "FRANCIS?" At first, I was wondering then I started to laugh: Our big boy was scared of darkness. "What? I just didn't want someone got lost back here." "Yeah, sure, Francis" giggled Zoey.
The way through the darkness was not long and we were lucky and found three molotovs and three pipe-bombs. We went up some stairs and then through the sky bridge we saw before from below. And a saferoom was there, too. In piece we went inside. After healing Bill and taking some first-aid-kits, we stepped outside. On the left was the terminal. "Gee, that has to be hundred of these vampires-" "ZOMBIES!!!" we yelled as chorus to Francis. "Whatever. That has to be hundred of them down there." He was right. The lower floor was literally flooded with infected. But we had to go down there, it was unavoidable. Bill stepped to a double-door. "Through this office we can make some progress." It was quiet empty in here, maybe three infected in the whole area. We just found a bottle of pills because there was nothing else even worth to look at.
We came out on the other side of the terminal. Of the other side, we could the horror way better, what's waiting for us. "Oh my god." More couldn't Zoey say but overall, it was a good summery of what was waiting for us – the zombies we just saw minutes ago now were in front of us. "Hey, here are some pipe-bombs" said Francis. He took one and threw it into the terminal. The show, he unleashed, was awesome. The single pipe-bomb attracted almost every infected down there and blew them up and the ones left could Bill blew up with the second one. There were also two gas cans, we took and carried downside. Many things down here got destroyed, the Bänder for the luggage were fallen down, a van was stuck in the door and everywhere was some pieces of concrete. Downside we couldn't go further, a fence was blocking the way. "We could use that van" suggested Zoey. "I hate vans. Let's try something else." After we placed the gas cans left and right sided of the fence, Francis began to climb over the fence. "Stop it, that won't help" said Bill. Still, Francis was able to climb on the fence. It felt over by the additional weight and crashed on the ground with a loud noise, what attracted a Horde of infected. We ran over the fence Francis just killed. I ignited the right gas can and kept running. Here we couldn't move ahead again. But it wasn't a dead end, because on the left was a Check-In – or something similar – of Vector Airlines. There we could enter the area with the luggage-Bänder and walk over them. We followed them to the end – still escaping the Horde. As we reached the end, we ended up on the other side of the fence through a door. Because it seemed the Horde didn't followed us anymore, we stopped. "I guess... we lost 'em" I choked. Then we continued. Directly in front of us were some metal detectors. Francis headed to one directly and was about to walk through it, but I could grab him right in time. "Are you insane? That thing will go on when you walk through it! And you can imagine what gonna happen if you do, right?" Behind the detector was a Duty-Free-Shop, a Burger-Tank-Restaurant, toilets and a giant statue. "Hey, are we in Greece?" asked Zoey and pointed at the statue. "I hate Greece" answered Francis. "Let's see, maybe we find something before we move on. Daniel, Zoey, you might want to check that shop there. Francis, you gonna take out the toilet – not literally. Louis, you come with me" ordered Bill and we split up.
Inside the shop was nothing but two zombies and some useless stuff. "Come, nothing of worth around here. And the other might be done already, too" said Zoey after a short time.
We went up the escalators and through a window we could see the runway. "Francis was right for once. They bombed everything" said Bill. "And down there is our plane. Now we just need to go there." Through the area for waiting – or what was left of it – we could walk forward. In some distance, we were able to spot a saferoom. Suddenly, I got vomited. "Ah, yuk, not again!" The other seemed to be hit, too. Great. "Hurry, or we get overrun!" shouted Louis and we ran again. From the front and the back came zombies. In full auto, we tried to keep moving. But we were not even close as fast as we wanted to be. They were just too many. "Fire in the hole!" yelled Zoey and threw a pipe-bomb. So the zombies got a new target. The pipe-bomb exploded a bit too early but we made it into the saferoom closely. At the moment we closed the door, Louis started to shout in happiness. "We made it!"
Inside of the saferoom, it was pretty tight, it was impossible to make a step without hit someone else. Because we had nothing to do , we got everything together, just needed some ammo and left that conserve as fast as we could. The left parts of a gangway directly led to the runway. We almost reached the end as we heard a plane. "Look, is that the same plane we saw already?" asked Zoey. "Nah, that's another one" answered Bill. The plane came down pretty quick and one wing touched the ground. It broke, the plane literally crashed on the ground and slided forward in a fireball toward us and then stopped in a giant explosion. "Holy mother of god..." "Holy fucking shit! Did you see that? There won't grow grass anymore." We jumped on the Schutthaufen below us and walked between some wrecks. In some distance was a radio. "Hey, you! Get on the radio, we need to talk!" The voice came from a walkie-talkie, what a dead guy held in his hand. I took it. "What's up, buddy?" "I can fly you out of here, but first we need to tank this baby. Arm yourself, that pump make a real racket." "Understood. So folks, if you don't see a tank or something similar, that might be our best chance" I mend. Louis confirmed it. "It can't get worse, so I don't see why not?" Preparation was not really required, there was almost nothing around. The dead guy, likely the co-pilot of the plane, had two pipe-bombs but that was it. Luckily, there were weapons and ammo, too. Bill, Louis and Zoey climbed on the fuel truck, Francis placed himself behind the minigun next to it. "Okay, we are ready so far. Let's go" I informed the pilot and used the switch of the kerosene-pump. "Yeah, I hear the fuel truck pumpin'. Take care of them, I fuel up." I put the radio at my belt and climbed on the cockpit of the fuel truck. In some distance I was able to hear the infected. I asked myself, if really the fuel pump or the crash called them. But when Francis started to fire the minigun, I got rid of that thought and started to shoot. The infected came from all sides. A few times tried a Smoker to pull down Zoey or Bill but could get shot before. Also Boomer and Hunter were send to hell in a few seconds. The fight seemed to be going on forever. "Gas tank's a quarter full! Sorry, guys, still a ways yet!" informed us the pilot. "What, just a quarter?" shouted Zoey shocked. She just said that when a Hunter suddenly jumped through flames, which were burning near one of the many wrecks around here, headed to Francis and got him. Louis jumped from the fuel truck and shoved that Hunter and I shot it a bullet in the head. Francis was pretty hurt because the Hunter was on fire. But still, he manned the minigun again. "Fuel gauge at halfway, folks! Hang in there!" "Jesus, how slow is this fucking pump?" I swore when I jumped down to get an autoshotgun. Then I went to Francis and took care of his wounds as good as possible. "That should keep you alive." Just at the moment when I was done we could hear the growl of a Tank. It appeared behind a cockpit of a crashed airliner in front of us and Francis began to turn it into a Sieb. We other supported him and ran sideway of the Tank, what concentrated completely on Francis. It died after a short time and felt into the fire the Hunter just came out. I took a first-aid-kit from the box next to the truck and we climbed back up. "Fuel gauge at three-quarters, people! Almost there!" That I was hoping for. The next horde was rolling in. A Boomer jumped down from another gangway-ruin and exploded right next to Francis. "Gee, what a shit!" Now it seemed the whole city was on the way to us. Francis took cover on the truck already. The zombies looked almost like water to me, within three meters you couldn't see the ground at all, just zombies, which wanted to us. Another Hunter jumped out of the crowd to us and pounced Zoey. She could free herself pretty fast by taking her pistol and shooting the Hunter right into the head. Even before the zombies where gone, the pilot announced: "Fuel gauge near the top! We are just about good to go!" "I thought that's never gonna end." said Bill happy. Francis could go behind the minigun again, what was perfect from the timing. His hands just touched the turret, a Tank came out somewhere. It came left side of Francis from the building, but we were not able to see it – until one of the luggage-cars was flying around my head. The hit was just missed and I lost balance. The Tank climbed up to us and wanted to crush me. I the last moment I could roll to the side and landed near the minigun on the ground. From the battle against the Tank I couldn't see anything, it was on the other side of the fuel truck. I just knew it was over when Bill came around. "This war ain't over yet, get up, kid." I got back up and checked my wounds, but nothing worse happened because the luggage-car just missed me and so I just felt from the fuel truck. I didn't need the first-aid-kit. "The plane's fueled: Let's go!" yelled Zoey and the Pilot confirmed it via radio. "Fuel's at full. Get it!" We went to the Heckklappe of the plane, while the pilot fired the engine and opened the plane. The noise that made just called two more hordes. One came from the building, the other from the runway. We threw the last pipe-bombs in both directions and entered the plane. Inside we ran all to the backside and I informed the pilot we were all inside. The pilot moved slowly the plane on the runway, speed up and we took off.
In the plane we stepped into the cockpit and set on some boxes which were around he. We laid down our weapons. Everybody sighted once. The pilot turned around. "Welcome gentleman and the lady. The name is Andy. Take a seat, the flight might take a while." Zoey put her head on my shoulder, Francis laid on a whole box by himself, Bill took the seat of the co-pilot and Louis checked a map. "American Safezone... there we're headin' to, right?" he asked. "Right. There I wanted to fly to but on the way I ran out of fuel and we had to stop in Newburg. Should get some supplies. Never thought, that..." Suddenly an alarm was to hear and Francis was back up in moments. "What's that?" asked Zoey, who was awake, too. "Engine damaged. Seems, either you or one of the infected damage the motor." Andy used some switches. "Can't we have some luck ONCE?" I swore.
"I can't do anything, we need to jump. I open the hatch and you throw out all boxes, we might need them. And don't forget the parachutes." Said and done. The boxes were all falling down and we jumped too. I looked down and asked me, if that was really such a good idea. "Don't tell me these are woods down there." asked Louis. Andy answered "Indeed, sorry. I didn't really have a choice." After around one minute, we landed. Nobody was stuck in the trees. We landed on a kind of view-point for tourists with a pick-nick-table on a cliff, five or six boxed felt down there, including the one with our guns. Andy went there. "Looks pretty grim. Well, from here we need to... WOAH, SHIT!" The rock Andy was staying on felt down the cliff – and Andy with it. "FUCK!" We ran to the cliff. Nothing to see anymore. "No-no-no-no!" yelled Zoey in panic. "Goddamn piece of shit, we're back at zero, for the fifth time! We can't help him anymore." Bill was right about that, unfortunately. So, we decided to open the only two boxes which were not fallen down the cliff. In the one were four sleeping bags, a knife, some useless stuff and our First-aid-kits. The other contained five shotguns and five pistols. "Sleeping bags. Very nice. What shall we do with that? And why the hell did that guy carried around these things in the first place?" "It doesn't matter, Francis. We need to sleep, anyway. The sun is about to rise and at the day, most of the zombies seems to hide in buildings" said Bill. "Still, someone should be on guard."
"I gonna take the first shift, if you don't care. Zoey, you take the second?" I asked. "Sure" she said and yawned once. "Then I take the third one. Louis the fourth and Francis the last?" "All right. How long is one?" "If we take two hours per shift, we can sleep about ten hours."
My shift ended pretty fast and nothing happened. I decided to wake Bill. "Hey, wake up, Bill. Your turn" I whispered. He woke up with a growl. "Doesn't need Zoey first..." "I made her shift, too. She simply needs to sleep, as tough as she might be." "Well, all right then. I gonna take care we don't get any surprise and you lay down for the rest of the day, Romeo." I answered him with a yawn, got into the sleeping bag and began to sleep almost instantly.
