Description
The Sacrifice of survivalWith screaming breaks stopped the train and we quit it. What was outside, was everything but made someone happy: A shitload of infected. Louis and Francis didn't even went away from the train, Zoey and me went to Bill, who was a bit ahead. Just when we reached him, he offered Zoey a cigarette. She reacted a bit disgusted. "Er... Bill, I don't smoke." From behind, I pushed down the package. "South, yeah? Looks as shitty as it did in Pennsylvania. Whatever... we need a boat. Again" I sighted. Louis pointed around. "Here are boats. God, here are damn many boats." "But no sailboats. We need a sailboat because I don't want to stop every 15 minutes, search for diesel, walk back and hope that the boat is coming back soon enough to pick us up." That description sounded very familiar.
Through a missing part of fence we climbed down to the dock and found new weapons – the usual Uzis and Remingtons – plus ammo for those. Our M16 were empty all together and the ammunition here were no 5.56 NATO-rounds. Medkits were none around, either but we still got enough from the train and after looking around a bit, we even found a Katana hidden under a table – Zoey took it quickly. "Nice... can I keep it?" I looked at the sword: "If you really want to fight with the zombies only face-to-face, go on." That thought seemed to make the Katana for her kinda uninteresting. I then decided to keep it anyway – who knew if we might need it.
We went to the street or better to the alley upside. Of course there were zombies around and some were even that unalert, I could easily cut them apart with the Katana. After the fifth or sixth Francis congratulated me: "Great. And next you cut a bread for us. Deal?" We went into the very first building and on the table was a pistol Zoey took. When I wanted to take one, I saw that it was gone. Dammit.
In the next room was second pistol, which Bill took and then he broke a window. There continued the alley, full of zombies and he started to shoot them with the Uzi – until the bang. "BOAH!" Once again Louis found something great, this time barrels, which blew up. A nice carpet of fire spread and it smelled bad. "Super, Bill. Instead to leave people behind, you blew them up from now on?" To prevent the repeating of last week after the chopper-crash, I told Zoey instantly to stop it right now. "But just because you ask me to." After the fire went off, we could go on throug the alley and reach the river. Behind us was a garage and there we found M14 Hunting Rifles. Zoey and me took them with joy, Francis meant, a shotgun would be better for him and pointed at the water. "Hey, there we got a boat." "Francis, that's not a sailboat. Also, it's under water" said Bill and went further. Below the rests of what used to be a bridge, we came to a hangar-like building for boats, were Francis found a SPAS-12. "What's that?" "A SPAS-12, Francis. Semi-automatic shotgun. Like the M1014 – just prettier" answered Louis. He shot a few times on the zombies outside. "Semi-automatic? I need to pump every damn time!" I stretched out my hand. "Let me see. Wait a second... here... ah, yep. So, here." Someone set the SPAS-12 to Pump-Action and Francis tested it again. "Yeahahahaha... that's more how I like it." In the next building we went up some stairs and another pistol was here as well as a pipe-bomb. Through a window I saw to fence outside on a street behind it and there was... "Hey, do you also see a plane without wings there?" There was really an aircraft – someone probably tried to abuse the street as start- or landing-ramp. We went on. "Boats!" yelled Francis, Louis shook his head. "No sailboats." Our path to continue was blocked by fire and a digger so we went into another garage. Inside were M16, Louis and Bill took them. Through a door we came into the kitchen, which windows pointed outside – right were we wanted to go to. Without wasting more time, we just broke them. Francis opened his mouth and he saw, that those were no sailboats. The only way to continue was a small jump down. There we instantly heard a well-known growling of a Tank and a shipload of zombieficated soldiers was standing around. When we came around the boat, which blocked our view, we saw what was going on: A massive crash of two or more trains, one by the military. In one cart it seems a Tank was locked inside. Did the military really captured a TANK? Zoey went a bit closer and shot down the soldiers. "The only thing surviving that crash is a Tank?" I shrug my shoulders. "You're surprised? If everything but the Tank survived, that would be weird, but so..." Carefully we got closer to the door. There was clearly a Tank inside. "So, I am a girl and you don't want a lady opening a deathtrap, do you?" I sighted. "Get back." At first the door didn't want to. "If I shouldn't survive this, I would like to say something first... Francis, you're a coward." Then the door opened with a loud scream and the Tank rammed me and ran outside. A Horde came also and Zoey still got a pipe-bomb so she threw it to the horde. Meanwhile the Tank hunted Francis, which got hit regular but got no real problems due the backup of Louis and Bill. I supported Zoey with the Horde and the Hunter, Smoker and Boomer, which now also started to appear. After a few minutes, everything was over. After patching up Francis, we went into the train-cart to open the second door. Louis closed his nose. "Phew, and I thought, Francis smells bad when he's wet." The second door didn't attracted a horde and we squeezed us forward between several carts to a yard full of bricks. Between those we could walk easily and found a Witch. That was sitting right next to more explosive barrels, so I aimed at those barrels. Kaboom, there the Witch was dead. Due the lack of alternatives, we had to wait for the fire to burn out and went then into the brick-factory. Carefully we sled down a hill when we suddenly heard a manically laughter. We looked upstairs and saw something, what looked a bit like a gnome, running there – but it totally ignored us. "What in the three names of the devil was that thing?" asked Bill. "New zombie-mutation? Remember, we were almost a week just in that train, there could happened a lot of things" meant Louis.
A bit in the back of the building we came to a catwalk to the oven, were we had to get though, if we liked it or not. "Here they bake bricks? Has to be hot in here" said Francis. "Very hot. Oh yeah... really hot..." What wanted Zoey to say with that? Whatever she wanted to say, I instantly got a picture of her sweating and sitting just with her top on a bunch of bricks, the sweat made her top almost transparent. My head turned red when I imagined that and when Bill saw it, he told me to get back on earth and concentrate myself. After the oven we were, where a few seconds ago that laughter was. Here was a part of the handrail missing and unfortunately, a Smoker seemed to know that because he shot out his tongue and grabbed Zoey. She felt down and Francis followed her to beat the Smoker with his bare hands – literally. "Thanks, Francis. I owe you one." The two came back to us from the same way. A Hunter tried to do a stealth attack, but it failed.
Next part of the factory were some stairs into a office-like room and upstairs was some ammunition for the M14. I took some and exactly at this moment a Boomer walked through the window. Due the shock I stabbed it and made it pop up, covering all of us with bile – it was a very small room. "Get out, quick!" ordered Bill and we ran through the window into that direction we hoped to be "forward". The Horde came from "behind" and after we jumped down and went around two corners, we were back at the stairs. The horde cough up and I drew my Katana. "Come get some." Zoey took position on the stairs right behind me and I let absolutely nothing to her. With kicks I could keep some distance between me and the Horde and the rest I killed with my sword. The guys mowed down the Horde coming from another side and we moved on. This time, really forward. We even found a saferoom and what we could read there, was just great: Someone got a sailboat at a bridge!
"There we got a sailboat. Just as I always say, everything will be fine." "Yeah, okay, great, Louis. Tell me, Bill, why we look for a damn sailboat?" "I don't want to get gas all the time." Francis nodded. "Okay, but why we didn't use one of the other boats to find a sailboat?" Zoey shook her head. "Because, Francis..." the she stopped for a brief moment and stared at Bill. "Yeah, Bill. What the hell?" "Stop it – most of the boats were either fucked up or on land, anyway. We should rather try to find that bridge and hope, that nothing will go wrong" I said and opened the door. Through the last room of the brick-factory we finally came outside. This place was littered with zombies and carefully Zoey sniped them down one after another. "Who needs that many bricks?" asked Bill when we moved on. Inside a Container, we found a pipe-bomb and shortly after, a broken fence. Behind it was a Hunter, which was successful at jumping towards me, but landed right in my Katana. The Katana got turned around and the Hunter was pushed down with a foot. It jumped down from a silo we now passed by to something, what looked like a small lake or swamp, with a entirely functionless cabin next to it. On the other side of the lake ran an infected, which seemed to drip. A headshot by me, it was dead and left a light green puddle. "What was that kind of freak?" Zoey wanted to know. No answer. Instead came a Horde past the lake to us. I didn't want to waste my pipe-bomb for it, so I dropped my M14 and drew my pistol. It was a short and easy battle. Even a Smoker wanted to join and dragged me into the water, but Francis reacted fast enough and shot it down. Now I was totally wet again, but alive. After everything was over, we walked through a open fence into a workshop with a jeep. "Boat!" yelled Francis and laughed. "That's a car, Francis" moaned Bill. "I know." Through the door we came into the business-rooms and in the next room was part of the ceiling missing. Up the stairs and once again through a window we came into an area to fill up trucks with oil. We just jumped down when a Tank ran and a car flew to us. Due the shock I felt down flat on the ground and the car actually landed on its wheels and slid over me without leaving a single scratch. Zoey was less lucky and got incapacitated instead, now lying below the car. While we were still busy with the Tank, a Boomer jumped down from the roof and exploded next to Francis and Louis. Now I didn't care about anything anymore and threw that pipe-bomb, which flew against the Tank, making that one angry at me. With my Katana, I tried to stab his heart, but I just hit somewhere at the stomach-area and the sword got stuck. In panic I ran away, but got punched forward and landed on the car. Shortly after, the Tank died and I crawled below the car to Zoey. "Women and cars." "Just a single joke about my driving skills and I gonna break every single one of your bones" she threatened me when I pulled her out and healed her. "Thanks, man."
After we came to the next street, we went past the building and came to a part with water and a boat. "Hey, there's a boat." Zoey shook her head. "Francis, do you even know how a sailboat looks like?" Then she jumped down and climbed over the half-sunken boat. "God, that's fucking cold..." I complained when I went into the water. Due the fact it was so deep, one could only walk and not run. When I turned around, I noticed something. "Wait a second... do you remember that ship, too?" Louis looked at it and nodded. "Yeah, that's the ship of the Slaters, isn't it? How the hell did that come down here?" Bill scratched his head. "More important – why is that even anywhere? It sunk." "Maybe it is just a weird coincident. No reason to deep-think it. Right, Francis?" asked Zoey. Francis didn't even react on the boat. On the other side, we came back to dry land and climbed up on a street with a cement mixer. A bit further were more of those and a bottling plant for concrete – and a Witch below it. The flashlights were already turned off, I was just wondering, why the Witch was so calm. With a bit of distance, we walked past her and I saw that she was sitting in the shadow. Suddenly Zoey screamed for a moment and when I turned around, I saw a Smoker-tongue, which stole Zoeys M14. "That dick stole my weapon" she said and saw, that the Smoker dropped it right next to the Witch. "I clearly will NOT go there." Zoey drew her pistols and moved as if nothing happened and Bill shot the Smoker. We reached a hill of gravel and looked up. It seemed the only way to move on was over a belt onto a ship and move on from there. We sighted all together and started the climb. Due the very loose ground it was very fatiguing to climb. "Woa-umpf!" Face first I felt into the hill. At my neck I got pulled back out. "Tasty?" asked Francis. Zoey reached the top meanwhile and saw crows flying away. "Shut. Up. You. Stupid. Birds." she said angry and when we saw that the birds attracted zombies, she rushed onto the belt. The rest of us slid down a bit due the surprise and saw at the downside a Tank running to us, which had only one arm, was heavily wounded and got killed with a few shots. When I turned to Zoey, I saw zombies coming from both, the ship and the hill, running to her. With one pistol aiming at each side, she prepared herself. Quickly I drew my M14 to support her. The horde came closer. Through the scope, I could see that she was ready to fight. Zoey started to shoot and behind was also a party going on. "Hold on" I whispered and hoped she gonna make it.
Shooting without a break, I climbed the hill again and distracted the upper part of the Horde. With my Katana, I chopped it into pieces and spotted a Hunter, who wanted to get to Zoey but, to its misfortune, hit a pipe. When I finally reached Zoey, everything was over. "Are you okay?" I asked. "I'm perfectly fine." The guys reunited and we entered the boat, which was full of dead bodies. Louis was a bit disgusted. "Phew, was this a transporter for dead?" At the front of the empty ship we came down onto a artificial piece of land or something like that. Here we had some infected, but Louis killed them quickly and we returned to the mainland through a broken wall and over a second one. Here were a lot of infected and Zoey threw a pipe-bomb she found on the ship. Suddenly, everything blew up, it was assumable that the pipe-bomb landed right next to explosive barrels – and those were inside a garage, caused all possible shit to fly at us, the wall and a car. The latter had an alarm, which went off instantly and called a new horde. In some distance, I saw the saferoom-sign. "Run! When we hurry up, we might reach the saferoom before the horde reaches us!" Without questioning my order, Francis, Louis and Zoey rushed forward into said building and really found one. Bill helped me to keep our backs clear and then we went also inside.
