It's a gloomy morning in Union City, and Howell is having some second thoughts about becoming a Pokemon trainer. He is currently out on the streets, hiding from his tiny Fletchling. The bird, however, is hot on his trail and thinks this is some kind of fun game. Howell ducks into an alleyway. This time he's sure he's lost the Fletchling."mrrow?" a voice curiously purrs behind him.
Howell whips around and spots the stray Meowth.
GRAH! That thing's huge! And it looks hungry. Man, I'm in trouble now...this thing is going to kill me!
The Meowth purrs and licks its paw.
Just when all hope seems lost for Howell, the Fletchling rounds the corner and eyes the Meowth. It tweets with defiance as if to say "Back off, he's mine!" and dive bombs the Meowth. A few pecks later and the Meowth is disoriented but not out yet. It swats away the tiny bird who retreats back to Howell's shoulder.
The Meowth takes a few steps forward. Howell is in full panic mode.
"N...nice kitty... you don't want to eat me!" Howell says with a quaver in his voice. He fishes around in his pockets and pulls out a half-eaten bagel.
"Wouldn't you rather have this?" he asks, tossing the bagel cautiously at the Meowth.
The Meowth ignores it and continues its advance, purring loudly.
"No? Um, how about this?" he tosses some breadcrumbs to no effect.
"Or this?" A half-eaten chocolate bar
"Come on there's got to be something in here..." he frantically starts digging through his pockets and throwing everything he can find: sunglasses, his phone, some crumpled up reciepts...
He is no longer aware of what he is throwing at the Pokemon. His vision blurs over with fear as he continues to toss random junk until...
Wiggle... wiggle... click!
Howell freezes, his pupils tiny dots in his eyes.
"Did I just...? Please tell me I didn't..."
Much to his chagrin, he was indeed correct. In his panic he had carelessly tossed a Pokeball at the Meowth, and successfully caught it.
"You've got to be kidding me..."
