For one thing that quote is awesome. 2nd, she looks so powerful. I always felt pegasus were lighter in weight than your usual pony, but dam she looks like she'd put up an earth fight if not more.

I assume the eyepatch is to insinuate that the reason she's wall-eyed is that she's blind in her right eye? Anyway, I really like it, but it makes me wonder what her Bubbles cutie mark could mean if she's a General? Perhaps it's symbolic, how she can "rise above" adversity? It's very imaginative, I love it.

One alternative theory is that they aren't bubbles. They are hailstones. Which I could very much see Pegasi using as artillery (in situations where lightning is a poor choice for whatever reason).

That's a good point. However, ponies tend to utilize their special talent in their job (cakes and sweets are a big part of partying, especially for Pinkie).

In my interpretation of this pic (the one that I made up just seconds after seeing this pic for the first time), I figured that she did originally have a military- or tactics-themed cutie mark. However, since she works in covert ops and espionage during times of peace, and she's really devoted to her job, she had her mark altered to be more inconspicuous.

Actually shes a diver! ^.^ in the cutie pox episode you can see a pony scuba diving in twilight's book with the EXACT SAME CUTIE MARK. haha maybe the general started off with a team of ponies equivalent to our navy seals? Pony seals team 6? lolz

There's no proof that this pony was Derpy, I'm sure many ponies have had similar cutie marks over the several thousand years of Equestrian history, and who's to say that the pony wasn't made up by the book's illustrator and doesn't purposely depict anypony? However, I did consider this theory, and also the "bubble wrap" and the "Bubbles" story theory, but then, in pony canon, Derpy isn't a General so I thought maybe her cutie mark in this artists' version might have something to do with her being a General. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Actually, in The New Royal Guard test pg. about 2 slides from this one, its apparent that the General LOST her eye in a "negotiation" gone wrong with the Griffons. She even points at her eye to emphasize the sarcasm.
