An empty page, a blank new canvas,An invitation to inspiration,
Always seems white at first --
Or, at least, from afar.
White hides far too easily
Beneath its own pale surface;
You see only the tints and shades
That dominate your palette.
A simple error to mistake, then,
This subtly whispered hue
For a sad imposter of emptiness,
Or a drownèd lullaby.
But my canvas is not blank, you see,
Nor is my page so empty,
For behind the painted deconstruction
Lies the white colour of silence.
