what is it with everyone and all popular artwork needs to look amazing?? When someone splash red paint on a canvas and then make a dot of green there, that is just as much art as a detailed painted landscape. None of them is worth less attention if they were to get equal. Learn that others might like something before you judge it and offense those who like it.
Because that is what you are doing when you say it isnt worth the front page, it got there not because of the artist but because of all the ones who like it. No matter how popular a person is, people fave it/comment on it for some reason may it be that they like or dislike it. Some will fave everything the person makes, and some may not. Thats just how it is.

really the only thing I was trying to say was that, while like I said before it might have some personal meaning or something, this isn't really a masterpiece or anything, even you have to admit that. I'm really not trying to diss any personal artwork that has meaning to the artist or anything like that. I wasn't trying to offend you (I honestly didn't even think you read all the comments you get) or anybody who likes this.
that being said, honestly do you believe the last paragraph you wrote? I do believe that eventually true art will be noticed, but on a site like dA popularity is most definatly a factor, and I really believe that the popular artist on dA have worked very hard to attain it and they deserve it. But, seriously, if a less popular artist posted this what kind of comments do you think they would get? it would get hardly any attention at all (and if it did it would probably be hate comments) and they would be instantly considered a bad artist.
I can, and do appreciate good art, and I'm not saying that I'm a brilliant artist or anything, but this isn't worth all the attention its getting. And why would an amazing artist like you post something so below your skill? And really, when I posted the first comment, I didn't mean anything against you, it's not your fault it ended up on the front page, the comment was really more to the people who brought it to the front page, because really, look at your pic besides the others on the front page, something seem out of place?

Something doesnt have to have a personal meaning to be liked.
True art is all to who sees it, its a very personal thing. Not everyone likes detailed art as much as they like simple art, and the other way around. Some might even like them just as much. Is that so hard to believe?
Just because popular artists get more attention isnt really their fault at all. They are also a main source to make less popular artist known, never forget that.
I dont consider anyone to be bad artists no matter how well or bad they draw. Because i know theres potential to get better. And sometimes I like peoples sketches more than their finished work.

Your saying i should only post my best works, wheres the fun and joy in that? If you really think im here just to show of how good i am at art, you are completely wrong. Art to me isnt just a profession, Its a god damn amazing hobby who make me who i am. Thats like saying singers can never sing bad for fun.
I draw excactly what i want to no matter how little attention it gets or how much it gets. I couldnt care less if only 1 person liked it because I enjoyed making it and that is all that counts.

I didn't say you weren't allowed, first off. My question was WHY would an amazing artist like you post something below your skill? not that you couldn't, shouldn't whatever, just merely with your skill why would you use your time to make something like this? I would never try to regulate anybodys art, just I would exspect more from an artist such as yourself. I understand how art can become a part of a persons life, it has to me, my art still needs a lot to improve, but I have self-taught myself and have worked really hard to get where I am and it has made me who I am. But, to use your example, why would an amazing singer purposely make themselves sing bad? that doesn't even make sense

They do it because it is fun. why is that so hard to understand or even imagine, they also do it because they can. freedom of choice.
And instead of whining that things like this get on the frontpage, why not make the art you love reach there, because you are making it stay on the frontpage longer by commenting on it xD
Feature things, work hard like the rest of us have. Getting popular didnt happen over night it took 6 years of hard work and being active and talking to a lot of people.
Just because one artist gets on the frontpage with a lot of their stuff no matter what it is doesnt make it bad. Other people that might like the same humor can find eachother and make great friends. That is what the frontpage does, it makes others that will like it see it. You never know, but its atleast never negative unless someone has to complain.
