Description “... And so you see, boys and girls, magic uses physics, engineering, electronics, and even psychology- so it’s important that you study and stay in school.” The Magician smiled at the students visiting his workshop. “Now, there’s one more place I haven’t shown you. Tell me- how many of you are in your school’s Drama Club?” He looked at a fair number of raised hands. “All right- and how many of you like to watch shows?” The Magician watched as almost everyone else raised their hands.

He clapped his own hands together. “Great! As it happens, I have a small stage right here- I use it to test out my illusions, and even put on shows, especially for groups like you. Let’s go there now.”

His assistant Hitomi opened a door behind them. “Shoes off, kids- we just cleaned the carpets and waxed the stage.” Her stern gaze was not to be questioned, and the class obeyed as they filed out of the workshop into the small theater area.

The Magician continued, “You’ll have to forgive me, we don’t have any chairs set up right now, but I’m sure you all don’t mind sitting on the floor.” The kids sat down as he moved to the center of the stage, sitting on a bench placed directly in the middle. “Oh, come on, get closer. I’m betting you’re going to want to see this close up.” The kids scooched closer, right to the edge of the small stage.

“Okay, I did notice there was someone earlier who didn’t raise their hand when I asked if they liked shows. And they’re not sitting now, either.” He stood up and stepped to the side. “Miss Luna? Why don’t you come on up here and take my seat?” Several of the students clapped and cheered.

The teacher, standing behind the class, put her hand to her throat. “Oh, I didn’t think you were asking me.”

“Now, Miss Luna, you are an important part of the class, so of course I expect you to take part in this field trip, instead of just watching. Come on, boys and girls, let’s encourage her!” The rest of the students started clapping, as the young teacher stepped up onto the stage, and examined the bench, a little apprehensively.

“Go ahead, it’s quite comfy. Though I think you would prefer a proper chair, wouldn’t you? Skye!” Another of the Magician’s assistants stepped out, holding more of the prop in her hands. She set it down on the bench to give it two armrests of a sort, and a low back.

“Go for it, Miss Luna!” Some of the kids called out. The teacher shrugged, and sat down, then looked out to the audience to realize the Magician was now sitting out there among the students, egging on their cheers.

“Hey!”
“Oh, right. A person of your import deserves a proper throne,” the Magician smiled, as Skye brought out another panel, and clicked it onto the back of the chair. “Now you can lean back and be comfortable, Miss Luna.”
