Description There's something about a new sheet
Of crisp white paper
Like new fallen snow
Unmarked and unscathed
By either mark of pen
Or walker's footstep
These words I write
Are a sojourner's path
Traipsing across an empty land
Leaving settlements of poetry
Wherever I have stopped to rest
And in the houses
Built with words
Live the dreams of the builder
Carefully protected by the guards
My secrecy still watching over them
Keeping them safe
From usurious brigands
But should a pilgrim walk along
Using map and compass to chart my course
Know that she is welcome
To stop and stay awhile
While pure snow falls silently
New sheets of paper yet to be filled
I shall walk forward by myself
Making a road out of a footpath
And when at last my strength doth fail
One last house will I build with words
A tomb for me, a start for you
That the falling snow may never lack
For a lonely set of footprints
Or a blank sheet of paper
Lack for a new piece of poetry
