We invest in things
It's a big decision
It's insurance for our future
Investing is a good thing

I invested once
I put everything in one place
And I knew it was safe
For a time it was

Then that place closed
It died, in a way
Irreparably and at a loss
I lost a lot of my investment

I invested again
Eternally optimistic
That maybe this time
My investment would be safe

I was wrong again
That place closed as well
It was partly my fault
I lost more then than the first time

I grew sick of investing
I took what little I had left
And I hid it somewhere safe
The proverbial shoebox under the bed

I'm hoping it will be safe
Maybe this time it will be safe
At the very least
No one but me can touch it
