This is not a poem, it's a plea. I'm begging you not to leave me. I hate the fact that I still need you, but I can't deny the truth. It's a terrible thing to be an addict, I swear. But now I'm very low. I've been down here for awhile and I've only just gotten to where I can struggle to standing in the morning. That's because of you. Because even though it's terrible between us, you're still the best part of my day most of the time. And in the times when I don't like you even, you're still the prop I need. Isn't it terrible? I used to be so happy with someone who wasn't real. I used to love an image more than the real thing. I've changed all that now. Now I try to love myself as I am. It's hard to do. But I think that with you just liking me right now, I can manage to survive until I'm a normal person again. So don't leave me alone right now. Because between the two of us, I can exceed the Twelve Steps and try for one more. This is not a poem. It's a plea untimely made, made nevertheless.
