Description
I was not so surprised
When out of a hidden corner,
With a wicked face
And a horrid growl,
An angry dog came upon me.
For a moment, I was afraid.
I could be hurt,
Left with a terrible scar
To remember a moment
In which I was weak and small.

I was more surprised last night
When suddenly you grabbed me
And pulled me in for a kiss.
You were strong with your arms,
Grasping with your hands
Through my hair and on my shoulders.
I should have been afraid then,
But I have always felt safe there
And I think now, as I wake up
With your heavy, sleeping arm over me
That I will feel safe here again.
