I laugh and ramp up the speed.
We run together
Side by side
For now. On treadmills that never stop.
We're always here
Day and night
Why do you never wonder
if this is all there is?
If you could ask the question,
then I already found your answer.
"We are here
Because life is a gym
Where there is no goal
Except to prepare
for the life to come."
But you end your repetitions
Shower, dress, drive home.
Because you have learned how to live here
and I am left debating myself
if this is life at all
And I remain running
here on this treadmill.
