Description
"Hunter WeaponsLog 10.222.8
Science Team is attempting to reverse-engineer Samus Aran's arsenal, based off of data acquired from her assaults on our forces. Progress is slow, but steady. Command would dearly enjoy turning Aran's weapons against her. We believe we can implement Beam weapon prototypes in three cycles. Aran's Power Suit technology remains a mystery, especially the curious Morph Ball function. All attempts at duplicating it have ended in disaster: four test subjects were horribly broken and twisted when they engaged our Morph Ball prototypes. Science Team wisely decided to move on afterward."
--From the Space Pirate datalogs of Metroid Prime.
Okay before I mesmerize you with tales of heroism and fantasy, I need to announce that I love Space Pirates. I'm going to run away from home and become a Space Pirate. Some day.
So I've been playing alot of Metroid lately (and right when they announce that they're probably holding Corruption back past June, greeaaat), and I remembered something that kinda bothered me about the first Metroid Prime. There are doors on the Space Pirate frigate Orpheon only accessible with some of Samus's unique weaponry, which the Pirates only develop later in the game (conveniently, right after you acquire it yourself)...but what I want to know is why they built doors they knew they couldn't open. Then again, the frigate was probably designed by the same Science Team that decided it was a good idea to engineer Pirate armor that leaves a gaping hole in front of what looks like a very large and vulnerable vital organ. Um, seriously. But maybe, if you punch a Space Pirate square in the heart, he becomes all huge and strong for like thirty seconds.

Y'know, this kind of logic in game levels always got me all confused, too. Maybe the game designers are just in a constant state of hoping nobody will notice?

I never even noticed that, but it makes sense that it's there. It's like how there's logs describing that the Pirates had Metroid Prime in their captivity at one point, which is how it got the weapons it uses against you at the end of the game, and yet, it never got outside of the Impact Crater, which is what the Space Pirates were trying to get into by collecting the Chozo Keys. So anyway, I like this comic. My favorite panel is the third to last, because of the little icons for the doors and their colors showing up when the one Pirate is explaining the problem to the other one.
Very funny.

For the minute there that I was waiting for the picture to load, I was rather hoping to see the Space Pirates' failed attempts at recreating the Morph Ball. This one was cute though. Has some nice effects going for it.

Guys think scifi and logic. The doors are automatic but the shield prevents them from opening. The shields were designed to prevent wild lifeforms from roaming around. Think of it as a garage door; you can either push it up manualy or enter the code or push a button on the garage door opener. The doors in metriod probably work the same way; the shield protects against wild life forms from breaking the door and depending on the shielding level protects it from being deactivated by enemy troops. While the space pirates enjoy the freedom of not having to blast the door open (however in a lockdown this maynot be the case)

u don't understand... they need some ventilation in their armor... the "mystery" about Samus's suit is that she has some kind of super cool ventilation system... but the pirates sweat like hell and they
need to leave a hole in their armor breastplate... the sad part is that for some unknown reason that hole has to be just in front of their heart... I'm still researching the cause of that...
well... that's one theory...

I really never got into Metroid Prime, but I kinda liked Metroid Prime 2.
Until I got to the second temple. Then I just decided that I should just bring it back and never play it again unless I wanted to unlock the cool weapons later.

Yeah it pretty bizzare the way it works (it made much more sense in Super Metroid). I have theorys that its actually the Chozo items they've found and mass duplicated, but that makes even less sense since they'd be stronger weapons rather then weak copies (They make good visors though).
It makes me sad though that Prime 3 is pushed back AGAIN. I know its better to wait rather then get something full of bugs now, but it stills makes me sad. I want to kick Prime Samuses ass once and for all!

Oh yeah! That is soo true!
But maybe, if you punch a Space Pirate square in the heart, he becomes all huge and strong for like thirty seconds. That wil be a cool technique to have. Very much like Bane from Batman!
I'm keeping on thinking that the core/organ thing is like a tracker organ so their leader will keep track of the number of troops or something similiar. ^^
