I've headcanoned Cadence as the nerdy type with a leaning towards RPGs (especially LARPing) since A Canterlot Wedding.
Celestia seems like the type to take to trying new things and Luna... Well, she'd probably play aggressively to win, whereas Celestia would play smart.I haven't read the Solar Empire fic but it sounds good so I used the names. Sorry if it's irritatingly inaccurate! Also: The RPG isn't anything in particular. If you think it needs a Dungeon-Master-type (who isn't one of the players) then assume they're out of shot.
And the big brothers should hang out more!

Oh my lord is this rich. I know it's been said before, but this is too good. I can't stop giggling at this comic, that last panel in particular just steals the show, and that's saying something given what comes before.

And hey, Luna was in NMM form in the moon for at least 1000yrs, so it's not her fault if her characters are 2D goodie-goodies! 
It doesn't really matter, the whole SE/NLR thing struck me as boring anyway (apart from the art of armoured ponies, some of that was cool).

Lots of nice people like to play the bad side in games, though. Or maybe she does it so that her little sis has a proper enemy to play against.
And it's possible Luna fans do that for fun? Or do now even if that's not how it started? Personally I thought Celestia was awful in S1 but S2 made her far more appealing.
