Description
I made this for our event over at Pixelbrush (Myths). I made this more as a drawing, rather than painting, and it was fun not messing around with colours, or tiny details for once. This is Cthulhu himself. As I'm a big Call of Cthulhu buff, and never got the chance to paint the dude yet, I gave this a go, just for fun.
You can see the progress steps in my event-topic here: [link]
Made using Photoshop CS2, and a Wacom Intuos tablet.

This is terrific. Until now, I never thought I'd see any work in DA that could stack up to =higherdepths ' version of Cthulhu. But this one definitely does. I especially like it because it's grayscale; am not a digital artist, but graphite/charcoal are my fave media. This one has that blended look to it.
This piece rocks.

I have a question for a master of painting in PS; is there a way to set the brush tool to behave more like actual drawing instead of how when you choose an opacity, say 15%, no matter how many times your brush over one spot it maintains that 15%. I want it to behave more like Corel Painter or a real brush...

Yeah, there are plenty of ways to emulate pencils and traditional mediums. Try and take a look at tutorial #43 on my site, which is specifically about this matter:

Not a big tutorial. There might be other parts in some of the other tutorials with similar tips. I don't quite remember right now.

i always pictured Cthulhu as smaller, since the steamboat was able to slow him down in the collision, but i may be wrong. it would be fun to read the story again though.

maybe he chose to get slowed down just to show them he could regenerate, to make them even more hopeless!

then why did he let himself be sealed back inside in Ry'leh after all the sailors had fled? the only logical reason is that he had been harmed by the collision in some way, and decided to go inside again to recupate. then he was trapped inside by the earthquake that sunk Ry'leh again.

aww poor him... *hugs*
Maybe he wasn't hurt though. I mean, you were sleeping and then you wake up and you get rammed with a boat. When your day starts like this, I think it's better to go back to bed. ^__^
