Description This particular iteration of the point-and-click adventurer known only as "The Adventurers" was upon a number of (in retrospect, pretty cringe) short stories I wrote during my A-Levels, taking inspiration from (or should that be "taking pot-shots at"?) my circle of friends.

I was criticised at the time for making the self-insert character - Gordon the Peculiar - too 'normal'... but his appearance is kind of based on Axil the Able from Gargoyle Games' adventure Heavy on the Magick, and the Peculiars were an association of absolutely non-magical figures whose raison d'être was essentially to doubt everything that life presented them.

If anything Anne-Louise, Lover of Pigs and All Things That Do Snort, was a far more 'normal' character, in that she was basically just a farm girl who really liked pigs, and came on adventures with various other characters because she was a bit overbearing, and presumed they wouldn't survive without her.

Petür the Barbarian was essentially a wannabe with very little fighting skill beyond a fairly sharp tongue and an almost limitless capacity for beer.

Paul the Off-White Knight was desperate to prove his mettle by going on grand quests, to live up to the likes of Sir Lance-a-bit-mainly-at-the-weekends and Sir Galahadn't, but his efforts were inevitable derailed by everyone who tagged along.

Julie the Bondage Fairy was pretty two-dimensional, in that she was a human-sized fairy with a penchant for leather and latex, and a magic 'wand' that was actually a whip.

The Princess Rosie, Lover of Sheep and All Things That Do Bleat was another similarly dull character, because I couldn't think of anything to do with her other than be the eternally reluctant damsel in distress.

Kev-Man was a fish-out-of-water superhero from another dimension, transferred to the magical world of Oxford by his arch-nemesis.

The Oracle Phil-and-Gill was little more than a piss-take of the unlikely, yet largely inseparable couple in our group.

Looking back, I'm really not that proud of these creations, but they look OK... mostly... apart from the fact that Julie and Rosie are basically the same sprite with differences in clothing and hair colour.
