Ok, this may come as a surprise, but I have something different for you now...This is NOT the actual deviation, you need to download the file below!
It's a short (a mere 30 secs.) 2D animation sequence which I created back in 2005. The file is only 7 MB, so please check it out!
I combined hand drawing with Photoshop coloring and composed in After FX 6.5
Animation is tedious, but the results are rewarding. There is a shot that includes rotoscoping...yeah, that's lame. -.-
I plan to do another bigger animation with a Sci-Fi thematic, I already have some cool scenes in mind that I want to create. It's gonna take some time, but it's really something I want to do eventually! So keep an eye out!
Ah yes, the music is taken from "Versus" (jap. movie), I just had to include it!
The scene actually had its original score, but it didn't fit so well so I exchanged it...

Heh, that would be awesome. Lookking forward. And it will be(or I think it will be,lol) pretty cool to compair what's the animations quality then and what it is now. Of course the subjects are two completely different but I think you've mastered massive amount of new styles/skills and such.
As your gallery is really impressive.
Oh and on a site note, do you work as a designer? If you don't mind me asking. Or do you just do these on a "doodle" basis? You really do seem like professional "already". And if you do some professional work, can I see it somewhere on the internet?

ah, yeah, sure. I have been working as a pro for quite some time already. Currently I work as art director on a short animation feature for David Weinstein. (check my journal). And I have done other commissions for different clients. Most of it is under NDA (non-disclosure agreement) so I cannot reveal most of it...
Animation is pretty different from illustration. While my painting standard has risen, I haven't progressed with actual animation. So although my first animation was old, the look of the chracters wouldn't differ too much now. Because in the end, you yourself decide how detailled you wanna make your characters. And more complex ones means VERY tiresome work when animating...

Das ist gar nicht übel, Hide.
Allerdings hoffe ich schwer, dass du inzwischen an deinen Charas gefeilt hast und sie bei der nächsten Animation mehr hermachen...
Btw - schlechter Ort und Zeitpunkt, ich weiß, aber die daily sketch group auf animexx wurde reanimiert. magst nicht mal reinschauen?

Hm...mein manga-zeichenstil hat sich bis heute eigentlich nicht so stark verändert. Ich wollte damals ja auch nicht total komplex zeichnen, das erschwert Animation extrem!
Und außerdem, die charas in der geplanten Sequenz werden vorwiegend armour masks tragen, hehe...
