Courage, Cid now understood, came in many forms and was not always immediately obvious. There’s no measure for it; you cannot believe that one form of bravery held more merit than another. He had always been praised for his fearlessness in what ever venture he undertook, whether it was taking to the skies and beyond or singlehandedly taking on three pissed behemoths. Yet it must be acknowledged that there is courage to be found in openly admitting a mistake, in standing up to accept responsibilty as others reviled you for it.

There was courage to be found in remaining behind to face the consequences that followed.

If I were a decent writer this snippet would be continued on and written out entirely. Unfortunately I suck at it, so it gets sketched instead. Shera's quote in the bottom right is taken directly from the game, so copyright belongs to Sqeenix for it. The top left is my favourite scene for two reasons: I'm liking Cid with shorter, cropped hair (it suits him in his younger years) and because it shows the serious and ugly side of their relationship.
