Background/Personality:

  Torra was a sweet, talented young mare who had a young romance with one of the young stallions in her village. They were often found late at night at the lake with each other, would sit close and giggle during bonfires, and would spend early mornings together. They were inseparable. However, after they were separated when power hungry unicorns invaded their home, she grew to have a generally neurotic personality. She didn't manage stress well, and would go days without eating or doing any work, just sleeping most of the time. She would also often have bouts of sickness due to losing her horn that nobody really knew how to tend to.

Eventually, they decided to pack up and move out of the village, as there were too many painful reminders of what they'd lost, and they didn't think he would ever return. They found a clearing in the woods a few hours from home, and set up a cottage there. For the better half of a century they've been living there, and it has become fairly homey.

Without her horn, she learned to make a living by collecting medicinal plants and other types of herbs and works as a "witch" for ponies, similarly to Zecora. She often tends to the animals in the forest, giving her a similar relationship to animals as Fluttershy.

Relationships:

  After finding her young love, now battered and beaten, in the outskirts of the forest, she has a tense relationship with him. Torra generally bounced back to herself after learning he was still alive, but he didn't much appreciate her needy personality. She enjoyed cuddling and touching, it's her love language, but after nearly a century of being poked and prodded at, Acaeus just wanted some damn free time. She would often daydream of meeting him again in a similar fashion to a prince rescuing a princess, but she had to learn this wasn't the case, and that she needed to give him time.

Eventually, they do reconnect and are able to return to a similar relationship status. They even end up having a son.

Special:

- Nonbinary any pronoun works, throw it at em and they'll respond. might even respond to bitch. usually uses she/they

- Torra lost her horn in the attack on her village. Some ponies had a strong magical grip on her horn, and in her struggle to get away, it was broken off. Cae, hearing her cries, came to her aid, unaware that she was already free. He was also grabbed, but was unable to get away. Torra blames herself for his capture, and would often beat herself up over it, even after they have their son.

- Very analytical. Is polite but generally reserved, quietly analyzes other ponies and situations. Somewhat mesmerized by social interactions.

- Despite their horn being broken, they can still use levitation, however it is weak and they can't lift anything heavier than a medium sized dog.

- Doesn't fly often, feels somewhat guilty of keeping their wings while Cae lost both of his.

- Later has a son named Iroh

Occupation: none really, helps Cae with chores and such

born in Torra's cottage, and still resides there with his parents

Background/Personality:

Iroh is a sweet young colt, and almost a perfect mix of his parents' personalities. He is sensitive and cares deeply for his parents, but has a temper and can be angered easily. He is also very sheltered as his parents are too afraid to take him anywhere, for fear that they may lose him.

Relationships:

  Iroh has a strong relationship with both of his parents. He often helps Torra with gathering herbs and plants needed for her job. He gets frustrated that Cae doesn't let him go to towns with him, but Torra reminds him why he isn't allowed to go.

He doesn't have a younger sibling yet, but he may get one at some point. Most portmanteau don't have more than one child as they are essentially immortal and don't want to overpopulate, but Torra and Cae may have another foal as they're the King and Queen at this point.

Special:

- Has dark magic mixed in with his normal magic, as both his parents were overtaken by the parasite at some point and it was intertwined with their DNA. It was most apparent soon after birth as babies with horns have crazy magical abilities, but it was toned down again until his magical ability started improving again as a pre-teen. He is secretly very insecure of this, and is scared of spreading it to his parents or others.

- Similar to his mother, he is able to make friends with the creatures of the woods.

- Would probably actually rip apart one of the unicorns belonging to the group that abducted his father if given the chance <3 (future character arc??)

- The youngest of the temperate deciduous forest habitat Portmanteau, as his mother was the last surviving female (besides the old Queen, but she wasn't going to fuck with any of the males that survived) he and his might-be sibling will likely be the last pure portmanteaus for his habitat, at least until any mix-breeds re-evolve to live primarily there.

Acaeus

Build: tall, previously lanky as he had lost muscle mass, returns to a stocky build after he is given time to recover
Occupation: test subject (previously) father, king (future)
Nicknames: Cae (only Torra calls him Cae)

Background/Personality:

  Cae was a sweet, charming young stallion. He and Torra loved spending time together. He came to her aid when he heard her screaming during the attack, found she had already escaped, but wasn't able to himself. He was captured and brought to a building in the outskirts of the forest a few hours away, and remained there for a little under a century. The unicorns experimented with his magic and his body, trying to figure out how the portmanteau were naturally born containing as much magic as Equestrian royalty were made to have (since canonically, tia and luna werent born alicorns even tho i like to believe they were >:c ) He lost most of his social skills and became angry and bitter. He was aggressive and threatening to Nigtorra when she discovered him a few hours after he escaped, and was still somewhat cold even after learning her identity.

As the unicorns who captured him intended, he was unable to keep the parasite residing in his horn from spreading to another. The parasite was slowly eating him from the inside out, and he needed special medical care to keep it from entirely taking over, which Torra did. Eventually, however, they cut their hoof on the sharp edges while trying to disinfect it, and it was spread to them. They continued making as many potions for them each for as long as they could, but eventually they were unable to continue and had to live on the potions she had already made, which of course eventually ran out, and they both succumbed.

Being more animalistic without higher functions, they were both trapped by Niusni (the cult that invaded their home). However, they quickly learned they bit off more than they could chew, and were killed by the pair, who continued to roam around the building that was put in lockdown. Eventually, they were rescued by Equestrian forces and nursed back to health.

Special:

- appears really big and scary, and is for the most part, but has a soft spot for Torra (and eventually Iroh when he's born)

- old soul, wasn't able to keep up with technological changes as he was locked away for like 100 years, so he prefers older technology lol

- very judgmental

- mommy and daddy issues for days <3
