A brand new look is coming to the News page .
- From the Journal portal, which will be replacing the News page, you'll be able to browse, submit, or search journals and news. You'll be able to browse by Newest, Popular, and Featured (which is comprised of official deviantART news and highlights).
- Journals will be visible with their skin, giving you a better context of the post.

As you may recall, we teased the release of merging news, journals, blogs, and deviations in order to create a unified submission process . This means journals, blogs, and news will receive a load of awesome benefits that only deviations currently have, including:
- Being able to
journals
- Hiding journals from non-deviants
- Share settings
- Storage
- Blog searching
- Comment disabling on group blogs
- Journal :thumb: codes
The aim of this upgrade is to unify all these systems, making them simpler to use and more consistent in appearance and functionality. As news, journals, and group blogs become one, they will all be found in the News section shown above. The News page will have an improved look and feel, and provide you an easy way to search and browse through journals, blogs, and news all in one place!
But this looks a lot like the Today page!Where the new News page and the Today page differ is that Today only shows the most popular journals, whereas the upgraded News page sorts journals by recent, popular, and featured. Both will still live, but we're taking the best bits and pieces from Today and adding them to the News page.

I'll be honest. A friend of mine gave me a free month of premium service and aside from the POLL you can make (which is flawed cause I made 4-polls in all and after I edited one it changed all 4 to the same)
Anyways, aside from the POLL feature, I REALLY don't see what premium gets ya.

Blecch ... OK, for the work I do in here, I clearly DO NOT need a premium account and found many sneaky ways of getting around their primary limitations.

Well, since ima writer, I needed WHITE paper, ink color change, centering, font change, bold, italic, underline, tables, horizontal lines, and of course inserting images anywhere I dang well pleased.
Since DA covers zippop-o of these without going to raw HTML coding, and even then you hadda have a premium account to do most of 'em, I gave some thought about it.
Finally I came up with a great idea. IMAGE it !
So I brought up Notepad to get my thoughts clear on it. And realized I needed to go from a HTML ultimately to a PNG. How would I do it ? Can it be done ? I looked at the tools I had and a few days later after some careful thought, realized, yes it can be done, with a fair amount of work.
So I sketched it out, making a hash tutorial telling myself what to do each steppa the way. And this is how it's done.
I take my online writing from ARKOS and copy it to the clipboard. Then I paste it to my offline HTML editor. Clean it up a bit, making sure the font isn't too big or small, resizing if necessary. Then save it off not as a HTML but as a PDF. Bring up my PDF editor. Load up the PDF I just saved. Make sure it looks good, change the margins for it if need be. Save that off not as a PDF but as a TIFF. Bring up Paintshop Pro. Load up the TIFF I just saved. Resize it so it's the proper screen size, perfect for viewing ONLINE. Do some detailed image cleanup work with it if need be. When all done, reduce it down to 256-colors with 100% dithering to maintain image sharpness. Save that work off not as a TIFF but as a .PNG. Return back to DA and click SUBMIT. then upload it ! Done !
I don't know if TIFF's will showup in DA for all internet browsers so I will stick with PNG which I know does.
This may sound like a lot to do but I can breeze through all of it now and plan in time to upload all 2560 pages from my 4 novels not counting various short-stories and articles so people can read and enjoy them in here.
