i think you should try a style that isn't totally anime
myself, i try to do semi-realism, and let me tell you, it's a lot more gratifying rather than drawing what like, 80% of what dA draws.
i think you should find your own style rather than just being another "generic anime artist".

I was just trying that because that's what makes artists popular but to be honest, I'm sick of drawing in anime style. Also ooT Link is almost impossible to draw NOT in anime.

Anyway, I'm experimenting with different styles so I can see which one seems most natural to me. I've been doing a lot of stylized Western animation doodles offline and Wind Waker style also seems easy for me to draw. All I know is that I can't do thin lines. Sorry, I wrote so much crap.

no, it's fine. i used to draw in a generic anime style, and it just got really boring and it annoyed me, i personally don't like anime, so i try to make mine look like semi-realistic or if i can manage it at all, realistic.
but hey, props to you, hope you can find a style you like

The really annoying thing about 'popular' fanart deviations that they either
a) traced, copied, or eyeballed the official art and/or manga
b) demotivational posters and edited screenshots
c) very generic anime style.
I hate how popular these get, and how less talented people get much more attention rather than the ones who actually deserve it.
