This might take some explaining, but it is so cool that I just have to try! You have four main vertical bars in this fractal; the two on the outside edge go down to the bottom and the two in the middle are shorter. You know which fractal pieces I'm talking about?

Okay, now I will draw your attention to the repeated texture on those vertical bars. It's primarily on the right side of each of them and is kind of leaf shaped. Still follow? I hope so, because here comes the trippy part.

The height of each of those texture elements is almost exactly the same distance that my browser screen jumps when it scrolls. So, when I scroll, those textured bits don't appear to move. Really, they are being replaced almost exactly by the one right below/above them, but it looks like they just aren't moving.

So, because they correspond so closely with my scroll speed, it looks like they are in the same vertical position as I scroll across them... but because of the slight curvature of the vertical bars, they change horizontal position a little with each jump of the scrollbar. These two factors combined makes it look like those vertical bars are swaying across the background when I scroll. It is kind of a "frames of film" effect.

Hopefully I described that well enough for you to know what I am talking about since it really is a nifty optical illusion.

oh Ian! wow! I must say, your ability to portray vines in this manner is astounding. Even looks like stalks and leaves, You expertise in Apop really shows with this one. I imagine it is still very random however the ability to manipulate the gradients is always eye catching. I've even downloaded Apop again, I guess I'll try again... you inspire me.
