Description
Not an astrolabe.Process:
The "Cosmolabe" was made of layered brass sheets:
I did the designs for the markings in Illustrator, printed them out reversed and inverted on a transparency from a laser printer, ironed them onto the brass (with judicious use of a sharpie for clean-up) and acid etched them with the circuit board fluid you can get at Radio Shack. Then I cut out the pieces with a jeweler's saw and filed them smooth. The permanently fixed pieces were riveted together using small brass brads.

Sorry, but it looks like there's a company that's interested in doing replicas, so I can't give out the artwork.

I wouldn't be using it for commercial purposes - a visual aid for a RPG I run for my friends . All I really need is a jpg of it.

Yeah, I could do that, if you mean a pic of it all assembled. I can't get the files until I get home on the 21st, though. Email me a reminder, would you? (iisaw@sti.net)

No I didn't. I had a massive computer failure just a couple of days ago and I lost a lot of stuff, probably your email, too. Did you send it to iisaw@sti.net?

Oh yes... all the bits move. Haven't managed to open an interdimensional portal with it yet, though.

It does say stuff... tell you the truth I've forgotten what, exactly, but one of the text circles on the back is my signature.
