Description A matchlock musket made after matchlocks had been around for some time. This one is on the cheap side, made by an armory which is tasked with providing as many guns as possible at a low cost. As such it is a bit rough in it's construction here and there largely so that enough wood bits could be made. It's barrel is a bit on the heavy side to make sure it does not break in combat, so that it can be made with ore which has impurities. Every component is standardized, a practice borrowed from galley construction. This allows this armory to turn out about three or four dozen of these weapons every day. The end result is a functional, if somewhat heavy (a fact which does give it a slight advantage in close quarters when it gets used as a blunt instrument) and uncomfortable weapon used mostly by peasant conscripts and civilian militias, as well as the odd hunter. A fair number of them are also exported, in enough numbers so that it's caliber of 5/8ths of an inch has been adopted by other nations, telling their local gunsmiths to make guns of said caliber so that ammunition. This, in turn increases the marketability of said guns as ammunition for them is plentiful. A few of them get partially rebuilt down the line by local woodworkers and gunsmiths, being generally improved and in some cases rifled or having new mechanism installed such as wheellocks or Snaphances.
