A few weeks ago, I was in a super-condensed 10 minute, two person production of Alice in Wonderland, co-adapted, co-directed and starring one of my best friends and I. I was Alice, he was Wonderland (as in all the other characters).We decided to end on a creepy note. Alice tries to convince herself that she's hallucinating. She promises herself that she will open her eyes and wake up at home... that she does not belong in Wonderland because she is not mad. The cat then re-appears to her and repeats his line from before:
CAT: Oh, but you can't help that. We're all mad here. I'm mad... you're mad...
ALICE: ... How do you know I'm mad?
CAT: Well, you must be... or you wouldn't be here.
[ALICE looks to the audience, shaken. Lights fade. Blackout.]
