Description
I'm from a dark coal mine,
suffocating in the thick, hot, dusty-ridden air,
nearly blind from spending my days far underground in the darkness.

I'm from a small town,
that's trapped in the past,
unable to escape
while the rest of the world moves on around us,
unblinking when they see us.

I grew up hating the town and everything it represented:
it was like being stuck in a mire, bogged down,
feeling the mud suck you slowly under
and you know that there is nothing you can do
but to stay calm and let it overwhelm you.

The only difference between the mire and this town
was that at least it doesn't hurt as much
to die in the middle of nowhere,
surrounded by nature,
god's creation.

I left all that I knew
to pursue
a hard-to-reach dream.
Fighting on the corner
turns to fighting in the ring.
Turns out I'm good at it,
but who knew that there were others
that are better then me at this sport?
