Description “Persephone, hurry up!” Artemis shouted.

Silly girl, she was always in a rush, ready for a hunt.

“I’m coming!” I fixed my hair by the pond outside my small temple and looked over my domain. My Narcissus were blooming quite nicely; a gift from Hermes. My mom had disdain for the gods that had sent me courting gifts, but Hermes was different.

I was actually falling in love with him, and I didn’t want Demeter to know because she didn’t want her bright young nature goddess with the messenger. She would rather that I would get with someone with power among the gods. That would mean some old god. Eww, gross.

Suddenly a hand reached out and grabbed my should from behind me. Screaming, I turned around to see Artemis and Athena laughing uncontrollably.

“Stop acting like little children. I’m ready to go now, come on.”

Standing up and dusting off their stolas, I heard a few giggles escape their lips. Sighing, knowing that they would bother me about this in the days to come, I turned and set off the worn trail through the woods.

“Hey Perse, it wasn’t that mean, wait for us!” Athena said, as they ran after me.
The walk through the woods to the flower fields was short; the animals that we encountered along the way got us into the mood for singing.

“We were both young when I first saw you,” I sing softly. “I close my eyes and the flashback starts; I’m standing there on a balcony in the summer air.”

This was a song that we all knew, singing to Pan’s wonderful music every night. My cousins knew that it was about my troubles with Hermes and my mom.

“See the lights; see the party, the ball gowns. See you make your way through the crowd and say hello,” Athena and Artemis joined in.

“Little did I know; that you were Romeo; you were throwing the pebbles and my mother said stay away from Juliet. I was crying on the staircase begging you, Please don’t go.”

And with that line we had made it to the flower fields; their majestic beauty overwhelming us, reminding me of my Aunt Aphrodite’s exquisiteness.

Winding down through a small path in the flowers, we found our usual spot and sat down in the flowers. Humming the rest of the song, we starting picking some of the white flowers and placing them in our bags, to bring back to Mount Olympus.

That day was long, and by the time Apollo flew overhead and brought the sun to rest, we were so tired. Gathering our stuff, we set up a small camp under a few trees in the middle of this valley. We hung our clothes up in the trees and spread out blankets to make walls around our camp for privacy.

Finally, curled up under a blanket, I yawned from the exhaustion.

“Goodnight you two,” I muttered. “Sweet dreams.”
