Description
Because I am Canadian, do not assume that I live in an igloo; my house is a split entry.I do not drive a dog sled to school in the mornings, nor do I drive a skidoo, but we do own a nice truck and a car.
I do not have a pet polar bear, but rather two average dogs.
We do not have winter all year 'round, only for a good four and a half months or so.
We do not all talk with an accent or say "eh", we only do that to fill in the gap at the end of sentences or awkward silences. On the east coast, we say "right" instead.
We are not all Eskimos; the proper name for them are the Inuit and they most commonly live up north, in the Territories.
Just because our national sport is hockey does not mean that we all like or play it.
I do not wear lumberjack shirts, workboots or dirty jeans; I wear what Americans wear, but I am more fashion wise then some of my southern friends.
We do not have two seasons, summer and winter; we have the rainy season, the flower season, the hot season, the mosquito season, early fall, late fall, snow starts, christmas time snow, january/february snow, and then it all melts and starts over again.
We do have a cultural identity; we are accepting of many different cultures and religions and all of that makes up what Canada truly is: a meltingpot of different cultures.
I am different from others, but that is what makes up who I am and whom Canada is comprised of.
I am Canadian.
