He was the 2nd place winner in my, "Abstract Mania" contest that had 80 entries all together!
is one of my very favorite artists, Igor's art puts mine to shame!

I am self-taught so I don't have much art book learnin (hitches up overalls with thumb and spits on floor) but I once read on the wiki about The White Stripes use of these colors in reference to the de Stijl movement.
Personally I think that red simply provides a good, distant contrast to both white and black. Blue and yellow would be too close to white.

I am so glad you are exploring outside of your usual range. Was it difficult for you? I found working within the "Black & white" parameters of your contest, a challenge, fun but had to breakdown a mental block non-the-less. Did you encounter this incorporating color into your artwork?
What comes through in this piece & all your art, is the intricate interconnectings, all very complex yet all neatly arranged & organized. I'd love to see how you keep your house. My is messy like my paintings, an impression of cleaning.
