My first piece of vector art in many, many, many months. I just haven't had the time.
Luckily things are settling down now so I've had the opportunity to do something new.

Most of my previous vector works are based on my own photographs, I decided to move away from that in order to create more original imagery. I created a sketch of a Griffin (or Greif as they're called here) because the creature is featured on many coat-of-arms and other traditional imagery in this part of Germany (Baden). I took a digital photo of the sketch (don't have a scanner) and traced over my sketch in Illustrator with the aid of my Wacom tablet. The result was a piece of vector work that looks more like an actual sketch which is fine by me.

I copied and pasted the dark sketch in illustrator and added a blur to it to give it more depth. The background is based on the shield and flag of Baden.

Perhaps my Powerbook is getting old, but this took a long time and a lot of patience to finish. Enjoy.
