Description
The Catran is a favored weapon among Antronalas. The blade varies between 50 and 80 cm in length and can be one- or two-edged, depending on where it is from. The special feature of the Catran is its wooden sheath, which is usually cast from blackwood (also called ironwood), an extremely hard and durable wood which sustains little damage from normal blades. These sheaths and handles are made with great patience, usually by whetting them into shape.
When the blade is drawn, the sheath is held by the cross handle and usually aligned with the lower arm of the shield hand. It is then used to block incoming strikes. The proper technique of using the blade and the sheath guard is complex and takes a long time to learn and master.

This particular version was decorated with three enchanted tiger eyes. These are strong earth elemental stones and grant the blade the ability to cut any earthen material.
