There was some time a small Finnish, fan made downloadable game, named "Mörköpeli". It is not there anymore, but some Finnish youtubers made fun playing videos about it. I got so many laughs while watching them.Moomins are very popular thing in Finland and my own childhood favourite character happened to be this brown, big eared Nipsu (Sniff). My current fave is Mörkö (Groke) herself. Holy hell she traumatised so many kids who happened to see her in the Moomins animation series.

Mörköpeli is back and with a different theme: Nipsu (Sniff) is now replaced by a woodcutter named Jussi, Mörkö (Groke) is now replaced by another kind of boogeyman: Rávdnár, but it's an ice monster just like the Groke. Muumilaakso (Moominvalley) is replaced by Kuusilaakso. "kuusi" can mean either number six or fir tree in Finnish. In this case, however, it's a fir tree.

Osaan kyllä ihan suomea. Ennen versiota 2.3 en päässyt ollenkaan peliä läpi sattumanvaraisella. Takana kaksi voittoa helpolla (jälkimmäinen teekannun avulla, mutta 0 pisteellä) ja yksi normaalilla, kolmeen hyhmäansaan astuttu kahdella kerralla, mutta vasta jälkimmäisellä sain ensi kertaaviikon superaseen.

Superase (joka toimii kuin konekivääri, latautuu täyteen R-painikkeella ja jolla on osuttavasti huomattavasti useammalla ammuksella mörön poistuttamiseksi kuin tussarilla) on ollut pelissä jo versiosta 2.1 asti. Se tulee poimittavaksi aseeksi tussarin sijasta, jos on ennen aseen poimimista astunut kolmeen hyhmäansaan.

I remember a line from this article about cartoons for kids that are clearly not for kids, I think it was on cracked, the part about the Moomins was hilarious.

Well, I was around 4-5 I guess, when my mum was reading Moomins to me and of course showed me pictures in the book, and they are pretty scary. I still read those books

Well, the game mostly is that you're in a forest and your trying to find a garnet or something, and the groke is chasing you. I don't really know what kind of category I would put this in to

You can get complex with me I enjoy learning about mythological and supernatural characters, down to the complex parts.
(PS that's sorta like suspense horror. It keeps you on the tips of your toes because someone is stalking you)

The Groke (Swedish name is Morran and Finnish name is Mörkö) is a fictional characterfrom the Moomin stories by ToveJansson. She appears as a ghost-like, hill-shaped bodywith two cold staring eyes and a wide row of white shinyteeth. And she can freeze everything that comes in her way, so she mostly kill things. You can find morefactson wikipedia. Also,I recomend watching the Moomins tv showfrom 1990,it's a Japanese-Europeananimated tv show. That's when I saw her first, and I was 4 years old so I got a lot of nightmares of it.

Oh man I have to look up vids of this game xD It's also really funny to see the original Finnish; and English names of the characters that I had known my whole childhood only in Polish xD Sniff was called Ryjek and Groke was called Buka. Go figure, doesn't really match the English meanings, I have no idea abut Finnish though xP
Groke did indeed scare the heck out of me in the animated series! I would always wind the tape forward when the episode about Moomin's Dad's young years story played, since it included some really scary moments with Groke! When I read the book later on I was pretty surprised that it actually talked like a normal person and just wanted her stuff back,a nd then went on her merry icy way.
Also, coming back from a week-long trip and seeing a drawing from you in my notifications made me so happy! Keep rollin' on, you're awesome!

I remember always thinking the Moomin cartoon was Finnish and got so surprised to learn that while the stories ARE Finnish, the cartoon was made in Japan! O.O Then again, once you know it it makes sense as it certainly has an anime feel to it!
Moomin was popular here in Norway too and I remember having at least three nightmares of the Groke (Hufsa).

Itse pelkäsin enemmän hattivatteja ja Taikuria kuin Mörköä. XD Taikuri oli hemmetin pelottava, vaikka olikin lopuksi ihan mukava tyyppi...
Toisaalta, kun on 7-vuotiaana alkanut katsomaan "Pelkäätkö pimeää?", niin Mörön ei edes pitäisi tehota. Ghastly Grinnerin bussikuskin jälkeen lastenohjelmat olivat helppoa kuin heinänteko... Tämä hemmo siis.

Sen voin ymmärtää, Taikuri ainakin on aika creepy jätkä jo sen äänenkin takia. Hattivatit taas voivat ihan oikeasti olla vaarallisia niiden sähköiskujensa kanssa.
