This is a Zerathite. They're a spider-like lithoid race with natural electrokinetic abilities.

They're an anarchistic collective with a massive distrust over authority in general because of a long history of enslavement and revolution. A large part of their mythos makes the claim that the Zerathites actually obtained their souls by killing the gods that had created them.

This myth is almost certainly based on real history though, as long ago, Zerathites actually were a eusocial race that served as drones for their queens. Someday, through means that still aren't quite understood, the Zerathites defied their nature and rebelled against their queens, gaining their individuality in the process.
