Description

Been reading Hajime no Ippo, and in my quest to catch up to the manga, the boxing manga also ignited my love of wrestling. And if there's one aspect of wrestling I love, it's wrestlers who wear masks as part of their identity. And so, I thought I'd doodle a concept I love:

What if boxers wore luchador masks?

Now, realistically, there's a REASON this isn't done. Well, a few.

1. Boxing is a blood sport, where people are fighting. Wrestling, while physical, is more of a performance than a real fight. It's physically demanding, but it's fake.

2. A cutman trying to treat someone's face with a mask in the way is a bit inconvenient - not to mention would ruin the kayfabe.

3. It would just make punching harder since, realistically, it's probably harder to see in that mask.

But, in the world of fiction, where people can curve bullets and the mundane can be exaggerated, Masked Boxing is totally possible. Though, don't expect this idea to go anywhere. My boxing fixation and wrestling fixation will just have to be satisfied separately.
