this piece makes me want to cry. the way the boy is huddled over the water. this piece reminds me of a childhood that once belonged to me. it makes me sad to see that those days are gone.

Ooh. I can connect with this. Broody kid, water, nature.... I love the texture of the water, especially. Adds to the effect, really. You are an amazing artist. I've been looking through your gallery... it's awesome. Keep up the brilliant work!

Wow. I'm suprised this only has 42 ... [click] ... 43 favourites. I've always considered this one of your best paintings.
I still say that bottle should have been a toy boat.
...You know, this would look good on a snowboard...

I really like how you captured this child's expression. It is a look that makes me think of the looks of a child when they are studing the wonders of the world around them. And here, there is an interesting dicotomy, the child is "studying" the fish and the fish are "studying" the child.

and i can feel childhood in it. even in the difference from your style on the 'signs' pieces i've looked at so far ... i feel the difference between child and man. and the use of space makes it even better ...
i won't even try to describe how the colors affected me.

this one... caught my attention....
somehow... staring at this little boy.... just... brings a lump to my throat... his ... stare... it's just so sad and yet... not.
hmm, when I read the description... makes me feel that... that is you in the picture slowly turning back into a boy, while thinking about your childhood.... the coke bottle... somehow... ascends the mood.... makes the imagination more real....
as usual that awesome style of yours.... and amazing technique... just blows me away

Very reflective (excuse the pun).

this is really amazing. i love the colors, the framing, and the playfulness of this piece. it's also interesting how all the fishes are looking up on the boy and the boy, on the other hand, is looking directly at me. kinda like, the one being watched watches back the one who watches. yeah. hehe, that's really neat.
thanks for sharing this.

i love this. i LOVE this. the colors, the subject, the expression on the kid's face and the hair in his eyes, the light on his arms and knees and the reflections of the water on his nose and shins--it's just too tasty! *gobbles it all up* straight to the favorites it goes. beautiful, beautiful work

I agree this could be larger. It's fabulous, though. You are so, so good at doing expressions on kids' faces and at giving them interesting body positioning.
Those fish are really fun, too.
