Description
An image created for use as a cover for Ronzo of my take of his 2 characters in association with Angry Viking Press, the publication company I will be doing work with.Shred the wolf is a bit of a fighter who loves to drink, and Squeek the mouse is a ditz who can't help but get into trouble. They may not seem to be a likely pair, but Shred has a soft spot for protecting her.
Be on a look out for further work to be done with Angry Viking Press. More info on that later on.
Pencil and ink on typing paper, coloured in Painter IX within the appropriated containment fields.

Excellent art, Jay! Great design and details with both characters and the bg. Shred is tough and dangerous looking, while Squeek is very cute and sexy. Awesome poses, colors and expressions.

Only con I go to is Anthrocon at the moment ,as I am not huge on cons. I run a table in the dealers room there, east coast.

Nice piece there.....but watch the tangents on the text at the edge of the page..if this is something for print, you will need about 1/4 bleed on the edges of your illustration....which means that the text, as it is ,would be cut of by a few milimiters....but other than that...solid job my frind..keep up the good work!

I am aware of all that. We do this all the time. This is just for online preview. the print version is formatted in accordance with the cover and accounts for the required excess, and presents the actual title, using none of the text presented here.

I definitely have to appreciate this one's amazing shading, line work, and composition. That said, I'm never going to like the genericizing (no, it's not a word, but it should be) effect that the anime/manga style has on faces, bodies, and their ability to express--especially the eyes and mouth. That said, you certainly have both talent and skill. Nice work.

For some reason, that pic reminds me of the old Art Adams "Longshot" series. It's something about Shred that does it. Ah well. Great texturing on the the pipe wrench. and also, love the way you do hands. I use them for study.
