Description
As of January 31, 2009, it's been ten years since "Family Guy" made its debut on FOX. And oh boy, what a difference a decade makes.I won't try to pretend that I'm still entertained by this show, because I'm not. I won't even try to paint a picture of the first three seasons as the perfect example of what the show could be, because that's not true either (even the so-called "glory years" tended to be mediocre at best). But at least in the spirit of Seth MacFarlane's trademark cutaways to things that are only tangentially related to what's going on, I can remember the time, way back in 1999, when these characters showed promise.
What'll the next ten years bring? I'm not sure I want to think about that...

not many of those shows are any good. Simpsons was the best by far but they stretched it too thin.
i think american dad is tasteless

American Dad is just like Family guy, just with a change in appearance and maybe a few characters. It's what would become of Family guy if Peter joined the FBI.

Just without the cutaways, consistent character relations, each episode has a plot, and a lot more songs.

I was never fond of America Dad... I found it really dull, and completely without humour.
But that's just me, I suppose.

American Dad doean't have any cutaway scenes, and it keeps on with the story. I guess that's why Actually like it. But that may be just me.

Not just one person! That show blows whole-heartedly.
Man, I'd rather spoon-feed myself a bucket of nails than sit and waste my life watching that garbage.

It will fizzle the same way the Simpsons did. And likely endure just as long. But these are the last repositories of classic animation out there sadly. At least until Looney Tunes makes a comeback.

I agree with this comment 1,000,000%
And it has to be the REAL Looney Tunes, not the stuff they edited due to 'excessive violence'; they BUTCHERED some classic gags there. Meanwhile, other shows get to show some pretty gross/violent stuff for the same age group Looney Tunes would be in. *sigh*

Yeah nowadays it's the same stuff: meaningless pop culture references that lack that 'Simpsons' flare and subtlety, two people talking to one another trying desperately to reach a punchline, and trying just WAY to hard to be edgy for today's brainless audience.
Family Guy just isn't worth watching. People look at me like I'm crazy that I am not fond of this show. But you know what, I always rebel against popular opinion cause most of the time it's usually wrong. And popular opinion on Family guy being 'the funniest show out there' is dead wrong IMO.
So I totally agree with this pic.

I agree with the show going downhill, but I don't agree with you saying popular opinion is usually wrong. Saying everybody is wrong in their opinion is well...wrong.

Popular opinion doesn't necessarily include "everybody."

That's true, but you are still saying that your opinion is "right" while a lot of other people's are wrong.

Phht...that's exactly an example on WHAT an opinion is!! XD XD Regardless of whether its right or wrong. Otherwise why would we bother posting up opinions?
You know, valuable tip: Trying to control most people's opinions and trying to steer their perspective towards yours on the internet is like trying to teach a walrus to speak English: It gets you nowhere, accomplishes nothing, and frustrates both you and the walrus. And on top of that...why are you even doing it?

Heh, I'm not very good at this arguing buisness. I'm not trying to control your opinoin, as I agree with yours about Family Guy. I though you were saying if you don't agree with it, it's wrong. That's what I was trying to say. Ummm... what kind of sound effect is Phht?

Phht is kind of a way of laughing underneath your breath.
I try avoiding the argument business as well. But just remember, when someone tries to come into an area where they are agreeing with the message the picture is saying; and someone else somehow challenges how the comment was worded; it can't be avoided sometimes I'm afraid.
