Description Yes, it stood in the middle of three enormous oak-tree giants (cf.: [link] ), as one of a wonderful line, and now is just a trunk being sawn up, that old oak-tree which you know by now so well.
Taken near Maartensdijk/The Netherlands.

Awesome atmosphere here Mysterious and melancholic. Just as the tree's story.

It's very sad when a tree finally dies and is no longer a thing of beauty but you have some fabulous shots of it to cherish

You know, I just looked at the link, and it really was a very sick looking tree in comparison with the rest. It represented ageing and death in all honesty, despite the fact that it had once been an obvious beauty.

Looking back at it now it struck me with this meaning, and feeling for that old, sick tree, I think that because of what it represented in all truth, it's possibly left a better scene without the perpetual reminder of what happens, not just to trees, but to all of us in the end!

In fact I could add parables and all kinds of analogies to this whole thing, but will stop right here! Nuff said!

This is a very lovely, soft, mystical scene.. "And its place remembers it no more"!

Actually the middle oak was already dead. There are many more shots of it in this gallery, as it was such an impressive monument. So it can be remembered, although it is gone.
