Description
As you have reacted with such sympathy to my story and pictures of the old dead oak-tree, now finally fallen, I have have taken that as a silent request and looked for another shot of it, still showing it in all it s beauty.Related content

What a really huge beast it was - and what a shame it was already dying (or dead) because it would have been magnificent with all its foliage (at the right time of the year of course!!)
I'm sure there should be some heart-wrenching epitaph by way of poetry, but I think this speaks for itself!

That's perhaps the best picture I've seen of your tree Jurgen. It's just about perfectly symmetrical. It looks very grand, towering there in front of the other trees.

Thanks a lot. Unless there was at least some haze, it was hardly impossible to get a good shot because of those other trees behind it. So I am glad I went out on one of the good days lately.

This photo is terrific. The slight mistiness of the trees in the background make the old tree stand out. It looks somehow like a figure bending forward slightly, the arms (the shortest branches at the bottom) slightly to the side. The whole top is the figure's hair. Sort of like a woody Struwelpeter!
