The Element
Vol I.
Sacred Blood
Prolog Part. 1; The Overseer

Terra, a world of wonders, a world of tragedies and miracles. So vast is its lore, always expanding and ever demanding sacrifice to satisfy its thirst. I have watched in a very long time. I witnessed as the Phoenix scorched the lands with life. I saw the great Primes rise and fall; I even watched as Nergal turned towards corruption and sought to destroy all life. They call me Kuldar a name first addressed to me by the Elves; I am among four Elementals roaming Terra that command the air; the most potent of the four is myself. Some say that I'm The Unbound, Wind Of The West and others know me as “The Mind Of Terra, ” “The Scribe” or “The OverSeer. ” I don't know these things True. However, I do know that I'm unique, Elementals are known to unswervingly abide to their purpose of upholding a balance in their element, but not I. Instead, I'm filled with the desire to study things with utmost curiosity, not just that, I am also greatly interested in other life forms to the signification of feeling a certain hint of bounding kinship between them and myself, but above all others, I am mostly fascinated by humans. In their short lifespan, they're the ultimate aspects of freedom through versatility and unpredictably. You'll be never exactly sure where to place one, for they might fit there today, but not tomorrow and thus are impossible to lay judgment Upon. They have the ability to turn their greatest weaknesses into strengths without boundaries, this I have seen.

Once a lonely beggar, an orphan on the streets, one day becomes the greatest hero of this era, reversing a disastrous fate, vanquishing a power great enough to lay all into ruin, bringing peace across Terra that would last long after his time has ended. Feat of such peerless selfless bravery could hardly be accomplished by an individual of any other race in such a short lifetime. Most refer to generic humans as naïve, foolish, weak and unreliable. However, if there is a race on Terra that is more gifted and has made the largest mark on our history it is them. They have evolved in so many ways over the ages, now, humans have been blessed with various bloodline abilities along with being cursed with the deadliest plagues that creep Terra. It's truly miraculous how they balance themselves as a race. Each person differs drastically from the other, although each one is perfect in their own way.

Nevertheless, at the same time, it seems that they're connected no matter how.

Cruel, sad, mad, evil, good, stubborn or lost they are,

They always have something to share, a “connection.”

I only wish that one day, we might all share a gift as splendours as this and explore it to its full potential, or are we just too ignorant of something that already rests within each of us? Be the fact that we are yet to discover that supreme element that all things share? That does not only connect humans but, all creations of this world and beyond.

Far in the Eridell forest on a dark winter night bright shine, in the distance, illuminates the dim and cold atmosphere; I felt driven to explore the area. Nearing premises, I saw a house engulfed vicious fiery blaze. Almost on instinct, I quelled the flames to keep them from spreading any further. However, as I did I hear a vague cry coming from the burned down hovel. It was a human child wrapped in cloth, right next to the child was a body of a fair young woman who had been mortally wounded, besides being badly burned, thankfully the child seemed untouched by the fire. If left alone, though, he would likely be haunted by the horrors that lurk deep in the dark forest at night. So without even thinking twice, I carefully lifted the child and brought him to my Island in the sky, A place I call Sorhal that I created long ago as a sanctuary, a refuge for spirits, as well as a place where I gather my studies of Terra. Upon arrival, many spirits expressed their concerns towards this action as some of them expressed the view that it could bring peril towards Sorhal. What if someone came looking for the child. And blamed the spirits for the child's disappearance? However, I did not let their disputes sway my decision; he was meant to stay here and be raised, in the safety of my sanctuary under my supervision and guidance. I promised the spirits to teach the child to respect them and not to bring harm upon them.

At last, most of the spirits accepted the child's presence, some abandoned and others simply tolerated believing they had no better place or feared mortal enslavement.

Years passed by and the child grew ever so rapidly, I nurtured him, taught him the rights and wrongs, the common language, the lore of our world, the past times that I had witnessed and documented.

I bestowed upon him the name Kai, meaning “Living Creation” which comes from the word KI which is “Life Energy” the energy of the Phoenix, the bringer of mortal life. This seemed an appropriate name for the child considering he's the only breathing being on Sorhal. Raising Kai was no picnic, tending to his needs, teaching him how to behave around the spirits, the child had no sense of being. Unlike elementals that are born with a purpose, a human child has no specifics, which for an Elemental such as myself was a bit hard to comprehend, but with time, I attained the proper enlightenment to handle the parenting position of which I stress is not as easy as it seems in spite of being a powerful elemental. At numerous times, the Spirits attempted to get rid of the child, entangling the youngster into trouble, going so far as plotting to murder him; however, I was always there to defend him, keeping him out of harm's way. With time, the spirit's hostility towards him decreased and some even came to bond with him.

The only thing that Kai desperately lacks is bonded with his own kin. And sometimes it expresses within him an impression of deeply rooted loneliness consequent to not having anyone whom he can properly relate to. In an effort to provide compensation, I fetched a piece of wood from the wrecked hovel and from it, I carved out the face of the deceased woman whom I believe was his mother and wore it as my face and still do until this very day. While this didn't completely quell the sadness resting within him, it did sustain some kind of compassionate image of which he could relate and hold onto. One day, for better or worse, he will need to leave my nest in the sky and face his own blood on the ground below uniting his past broken bonds.

As of today, he is 15 winters old, and his characteristics have developed intriguingly. He is playful and curious about almost every aspect of the worlds' content, a bit naive perhaps, but Embrace's life with such enthusiastic attitude attended by a faithful mindfulness without any indication of doubt or ignorance, that if held true could only lead to greatness and the betterment of our world. Certainly, this boy will make his own mark on our history, and I will undoubtedly be there to note every chapter.
