I use Bryce 5, the render is basic antialiasing.
Sun light and 1 spotlight on the top of the scene.
Procedural texture for the terrace, all other are Bryce texture.
just a blur effect in post work.

Yes, it is noticeable! Especially because Bryce 7 was not there.
In Bryce 7 Pro have more options for lighting, although in Bryce 5 can make good lighting too.
I've been getting rid of non-zero values in the materials Ambience. Ambience = 0 - this is the most realistic, although it requires advanced lighting.

A long break, indeed, because I had too many problems and bugs with Poser (9), so I stopped working with it,
and stop all works with characters ... and feel very sad

Each version of Poser had some bugs until you have installed the updates then it works fine.
Although a crash will happen sometimes, less often than in Bryce 7.
